'Must have additions' = not much, its a pretty awesome car as is.

'Want to have' = anything from window tint ... To 'sky is the limit'

Purely depends on what your goals are with the car, or what you expect from the car. If you want it stock leave it obviously. If you want it to look unique, there are tons of mods.

It seems the oil catch can will benefit in the long run... I guess you can call that a must have. But for the same reason a cold air intake and exhaust will help the engine breathe... That could be put in the must have basket too.... Or not for some people.

Wheel hop is something some people will want to address, others wont ever have a problem with that and wont want to touch the suspension. Or even tyres.

If you want yours to be faster... Just remember there is always something else that is faster. You can go on forever with engine mods and still want more. And thats even before bringing up the practicality side of things.

Good post!

Just to note though IngoStang, putting a CAI in will void your warranty since it will require a tune, unless you're going for an Airraid or something which won't increase your performance (or by much).

Wheel hop won't be a problem for some, depends on how you drive. If you're not gonna launch the car or do hard pulls, I don't see an issue with leaving it stock, including the Pirelli's. This is the same with any car. All dependent on what YOU want it to do

Hope this helps.

Engine mods wise Im pretty much done. Im 38yo now and went nuts in my teen years and early 20's with Torana's, HQ's etc I would look at an exhaust down the track but Im just waiting to hear some in the flesh before making a decision. I would be after the nice deep throaty type exhaust, not the raspy, loud, crackly types thats seem to be popular these days. CAI is something I would look at too but Im in no hurry

Magnaflow or ARH (American Racing Headers) seem to fit the bill of the deep throaty sound - they're my current short list for exhausts.

Magnaflow is more tuner ("J" car) bass though. Kinda reminds my of a Greddy Ti-C catback.

I'm sure they sound different in the flesh.

Sorry for my silly question. ....but can someone explain why a catch can is needed, as it seems just about everyone is getting one.

I just watched a bunch of vids and I like the UPR. Can I ask who you bought yours from? Also before reading this I didn't even know this was an issue with the Mustang donk. So for all you seasoned pro's out there what else are must have additions for the car?
I bought mine from American Muscle in the USA, about 4 months ago.
At the time, they had 20% off.

I read the article but not sure it's pertinent to our brand new engines as the blow by it refers to is the result of engine wear.

What is it about Coyote that 'needs' a catch can from day one (assuming limited competition usage)?
OzS550, it's not so much the blowby, as a new engine these days is pretty oil tight ring wise. It's that they run high crankcase suction due to epa regs and to lower crankcase pressure to reduce power loss.
The air is drawn in from the passenger side (rhd cars) and sucked out through the drivers side into the intake manifold. Oil misting from the sump and crank/piston pumping action is drawn through into the intake manifold. This oil, that then lightly coats the intake, is sensed by the engine as a lowering of the octane rating of the fuel and timing etc is reduced. A power loss ( small ) is the result. All modern engines suffer from it. My xr6t needed an intake and tb clean due to the same thing. FI engines suffer more. Not a coyote problem as such, a modern engine problem. Not having one is not the end of the world and any oil in the manifold is probably not going to be noticed, but for compulsive modders, it can be argued as being a benefit.

Gee Bob, I never realised you were so knowledgeable. I've been in the car game most of my life and you have explained things rather well. Good one.
Ian.
