I almost bought a 2017 Camaro 1LE 6 Speed...Was 10k cheaper to purchase vs my Mustang but no regrets. 1LE far more exclusive here in NZ. S550 Mustangs are a dime a dozen.

I couldn't find anything that fitted my price, performance and uniqueness requirements and then one day drove passed the Ford garage near work and noticed we finally had the Mustang. 3 days later I had bought a cancelled order that was already on the boat and only 6 weeks away out of the 8 month build time.

I almost bought a C7 Corvette more than once, all pushing $50K. Got my Ford for about $30K and the ragtop is so much better. Let go of a lemon SSR that also worsened my opinion of GM hydraulics

Before this I drove an '07 GT for a year. I had about a $20k budget when looking for my next car.

  • I thought about a 2014-16 Lexus IS with the F sport package (almost pulled on a '16 IS250 F sport before this), they look awesome but were across the board a bit too slow.
  • 5th gen SS but none of them came with the specific features I wanted. They look fantastic but certainly not as good as the 6g Mustangs.
  • '11-14 GT but no independent rear suspension turned me off pretty quick
  • A CPO deal on any German luxury, but I knew I would be paying out my ass because reliability issues... which seemed inevitable
  • A WRX or Dodge Challenger were briefly on my radar, but it seems the majority of previous owners on these cars specifically usually punish their car. Plus I couldn't find a deal I thought was great

I think after a multiple months long of searching I would likely end up with a Mustang. The Ecoboost is awesome for distance traveling, the 50 year appearance package gives it good seats, and certainly has enough kick for me to enjoy the crap out of it. After all, Mustangs have always been close to my heart.

For the record, this isn't a Versus post. I was just wondering if anyone else was considering other cars before they chose their stang.
No others, i have had several mustangs dating back to 1976. Coupes, fast backs, convertibles, race cars, Fox bodies, even a Mustang II Cobra, a 2005 GT, now a S550 Gt convertible.

I was looking at ordering a 540i with the upgraded interior package and upgraded stereo. Decided I didn't want a BMW outside of warranty and I wanted a hotrod again.

For this one, it was Mustang only. All the times I've gotten rid of a Mustang to get something else, I end up missing having a Mustang, so I've learned, I need to always have a Mustang lol.

I've had six Mustang GTs -- the last three have been convertibles. I was looking at 2022 CPO Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG convertibles. You can get some super low-mileage ones that must just be coming out of leases. They have similar seating(worthless back seats), more power and all-wheel drive. However, they only come with automatics. I've never bought a car that didn't have a manual transmission and at this point I've always had Fords -- a 1992 Taurus SHO and a 2016 Focus ST in addition to the Mustangs. After some thought, I ordered another Mustang GT convertible with a 6 speed. It was originally due to be delivered 8/7-8/13, then just got bumped a month. I've always liked them and I've always had good luck with them. My dealer treats me great, so why change now?

Honestly, with the exception of a posh high quality interior and a bit better build quality, I can honestly say this Mach 1 still, after all this time, never fails to put a smile on my face. probably the first time I can say that. Had this one the longest. No end in sight….
