Once again Ford proves I am not their target customer anymore. The really need to clean the the top level management completely out.

The Mustang should be what a Mustang is: a 2 door coupe pony car. Not AWD, not a friggin SUV, not electric, and not 4 doors. If a 2 door coupe doesn't sell; kill it off then and stop but butchering it.
Yes apparently I’m not Ford’s target customer either. I was born in 60’s grew up in the 70’s and started career and family in the 80’s mostly with two door v8 coupes. Maybe at this point I’m tired of driving SUV’s, we have had a slew of Explorers as well can’t stand the fake engine noise in our 22 king ranch explorer, if want engine sounds I drive one of our GT’s.
5 powerstroke’s
6 mustang gt’s
1 Lexus
1 Honda that’s up for sale
so apparently I’m not ford’s bread and butter target customer anymore. I hope they can get by on this new generation of buyers who is waiting until they are 30 to get a license.
Oh wait it all makes sense now! The kid’s want a 4 door mustang Uber!

I dont hate it and I can certainly see where there might be a market for it. We need to get back to building sedans and move away from the only SUV thing.

I like the idea of a RWD 4-door sedan made of Mustang parts.
They've built that before, with names like "Falcon" and "Fairlane".
In fact, I looked pretty enviously at the Australian market, and the Ford Falcon they had up to 2016.

They could call this new car a ThunderCougarFalconBird and I'd buy that before a "four-door Mustang".

Also, still not a fan of S650 nose and it's dumb-looking truck grill. Or the dumb-looking screen for a dashboard. Those are still deal-breakers for me.

The fastback IS NOT going away people. You not being the “target audience” does not matter, the car that you’re the target for is still going to be there. This is for a different audience, the Charger folks for example. The Chevy SS/Holden folks. Maybe even those that want a Panamera but cant pay the Porsche freight.

Who cares if they use the Mustang name, if it’s a beast of a car, it will have lived up to the name.

Mustang is a brand now. The Ford family signed off on it or it wouldn’t have happened. Some of you seem to be ok if the Mustang just went away rather than expand beyond the fastback/vert offering. To me, that’s not an acceptable alternative. Expand the brand to keep the original concept of the car alive. That way, hopefully, Mustang will make it to 75 years and maybe even 100 (I’ll be a very shriveled old man at 100 years of Mustang but I want to see it dammit).

Am I the only one who remembers when the Falcon first came out? It was an ugly car. Let's call it Cyclone or Galaxy or even LTD. But not Mustang that name only belongs to one car.

Call it a Taurus. Don't tarnish an old name even one nobody cares about like the Falcon or Galaxy.

Yes. I would rather the Mustang be done than see it but butchered as it is now.

Think the Mustang was Ford’s strongest classic muscle car? Think again.

Hello; Here is my choice for a 4-door with a v8, manual & rwd. Not a thunderbolt, but a Fairlane 500. Although such a concept would not be that bad. A lightweight body & chassis with a 450 HP Coyote might be interesting.
GM made what were called midsized cars such as the Cutlass in the 1960's. Unfortunately, they grew to be too big in the 70's

Anyone over the 30-50 year old cohort should definitely NOT be their target, period. Not if they want to survive and if you want the “real” Mustang coupe to survive as well. I’m 52 and I just can’t bother to cry about any of this tbh.

110%
I’ve been saying this since the Mach E was announced lol. Ford is actually displaying the foresight to keep the Mustang relevant for the future and the people crying about it are oblivious.

This is not ‘87-88 when the fwd Probe/MX6 was about to become the new Mustang, this is how you keep your rwd 2 door coupe Mustang that’s now selling 40-50K units annually vs. its ‘80s Fox peak of 200-225K +.

Teslas better in every way...and doesn't hit a brick wall after five seconds on the gas
Ok. Sure. An appliance is better in every way. One that lies about range, looks like a melted turtle, has a fisher price interior and a buggy ADAS that phantom brakes on the hwy for nothing. I’ve driven 3s and Ys, they’re quick electric Camrys or Rav4s but with shit quality. But, Ok, boss, go order one.

Also, are you aware that the Mach E 4X has no 5 second full power limit and is actually quicker to 110 than a pre-‘23 GT? No? Because myself and a bunch of other Mach E owners ripped Ford’s ass on the forum and social media for allowing the GT to be hobbled like that. Guess what? They had to fix it for ‘24. And now it runs 11.7@116+ like it should have.

I’d be willing to wager that more people know the Mustang name than know it is made by Ford.
Especially since you can't find the Ford nameplate on the car anywhere (at least on mine).

Oh, you must mean the 1960 Falcon with the 170 CID inline six. My parents had one with the column shift 3-speed that my brother and I (he was older and had a license) went joy riding when my parents went bowling. We put in $1 of gas and then tried to burn it all off before they came home but wasn't able to, though the gauge was close to what it was. Unfortunately for my brother, they wrote down the mileage before they left home so we got caught anyway... (and yes, it was roundy and ugly; it was a black one and later had clutch chatter problems that the dealer had to fix.)
