Definitely! I have been driving for 47 years and at no time ever not owned a manual transmission car and as long as I can depress a clutch pedal, I will continue shifting my own gears.

Yep, already a member of the manual transmission society. I do think manuals still have a place in certain vehicles, especially sports cars where driver engagement is part of the experience. In economy cars though, they’ve become more of a novelty and don’t make much sense for most drivers. Even in Europe, where manual transmissions were once the norm in generic cars, they’re becoming increasingly rare as folks shift to easier automatics and electric motors.

Here’s another potentially unpopular opinion: for everyday commuting and general traffic, traditional gas powered vehicles should continue to fade over time. I think internal combustion engines still have a strong place in purpose built vehicles such as sports cars where the driving feel, character, and engine sound are part of the appeal, as well as commercial trucks that need the range and capability to get work done efficiently.

For the average family SUV or minivan however, it’s becoming harder to justify relying on an engine that burns fuel when alternative technologies can accomplish the same task more efficiently. Nobody buys a Toyota Corolla for the engine sound or the feel of the car... (although some might argue that a few do buy it for the engine since it is so darn reliable). Perhaps a bad example, but think about the Ford Explorer or similar vehicles in that segment. Few buyers in that segment about the powertrain, most buyers simply need the utility for families, space, safety, technology and to get from point A to point B. In my view, it makes sense to reserve those gas resources for applications where they provide a unique benefit while embracing technology to allow more commuter vehicles to transition toward cleaner and more efficient options.

I don't get WTF is the appeal of bragging you have a manual with a sticker or a t-shirt. The company does nothing to preserve manuals, it's all about blowing owners who want to feel special. My wife can blow me I don't need a bunch of dudes with their sticks in their hands for that.

They clearly know I have a manual tho because they advertise to me non-stop about it.

I don't particularly like the idea of someone making money from this but if it helps manual trans keep some traction if the eyes of society, then I'm good with it.

I am proud to say I have been enjoying 3 pedals for about 20 years now.

That being said I don't need join a club or put a bumper sticker. I just like to enjoy it in silence.
