Correct me if I’m wrong but due to the strings moving and direction I am thinking there is a circular vortex from the windshield to the top of the vent/closest to the windshield?
like what happens in the back of a uncovered bed of a pickup truck with the bed tailgate closed.
iDK if you’re wrong or right, thats the point of the strings - to see and not speculate.

I wouldnt read too much from the weak flow at the rear. Theres a lot of engine blocking flow in that area.

Generally speaking, yes. There usually is a localized high pressure zone at the base of the windshield for most coupe-shaped cars. That will differ drastically from car to car though.
