Wife got me the Ford Performance Air filter and a set of hood struts. The hood struts are the wrong part and are for 09-14 Mustangs. Forgot the A at the end of the part number. Well... at least I got the filter on. Only 10K miles and look how nasty the old filter was already.

Somebody may have left a laser unattended around me for a bit too. Still need to get the settings dialed in a bit better on this one.

Today I picked up my Mach 1 at the detailer where I got full PPF, ceramic on wheels and calipers, and something on windows and mirrors. This was also the first time I saw my car clean, as I forbade my dealer to wash it (and it took one trip over the ocean and two months of travel to get here). I also asked them to swap the lug nuts for Gorilla ones while cleaning up the wheels.

When I saw my car I was in awe, it already looked cool before, but it looked even better now. Before getting my car I was considering getting full cover of matte PPF as I really liked what @dethmaShine posted here (https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/2021-mach-1-hp-fjg.169619/).

But as I started to bond with the car I realized I would want to keep the natural look. At the same time the detailer called and suggested to use Suntek Reaction instead of XPEL Ultimate, which I originally wanted. The reason for Suntek Reaction was that it had also some kind of "ceramic" layer on top and was more durable.

The only question was how to tackle the vinyl stripes. The detailer commented that due to the thickness there will be a visible air pocket around the stripes, but should not be detracting on FJG color. We also did a test with two patches of PPF one from Suntek and the other one from XPEL Stealth (matte) on the central part and the result surprised me.

I understand that the hood sticker differs between FJG and non-FJG models. The non-FJG models have the central part rough and apparently less suitable for the PPF. FJG model has the hood sticker fine even in the central part and there was no problem to put both patches on. What I did not expect though was that I would like the clear Suntek much more. It does add some gloss to it (while the Stealth was basically indistinguishable from the natural look), but it also accentuates the glitter which FJG stripe has (and the other variants don't).

EDIT: Some other parts we discussed about were the rear lip and the fender emblems. The detailer did not recommend iremoving the rear lip, and I agreed. On the other hand he offered removing the fender emblems and reattach them on the PPF. The other possibility was to cut the PPF around the emblems. I liked more the clean look so I chose the former.

Some shots of the stripe (I believe the phone camera does not show it very well though) and the wheels with the ceramic and new nuts follow:

I know it's been a while but looking to give a little pop to the wheels and came across this thread. Is this a Prismatic color? Thanks

These are the factory "premium" non-HP wheels, advertised as "Magnetic" - just brand new and treated with ceramic coating. They tend to become black-ish in direct sunlight, and in an ambient/artificial light look more metallic/gray.

Hi all , got back home around noon today , had a wonderful time. Car Show yesterday at the SA factory, here are a few pictures. The whole weekend as always benefiting the Carroll Shelby Foundation for Kids .
I had no clue what I was doing, but my friend had a tip for me ,on the Kentucky Derby #1 #7 and #19 , so I bet $20 ,5 trifecta, and 5 to win on each , Sunday night after dinner I went to the betting area turned in my tickets and she handed me 278.90 . That was a bonus... Thank you Golden Tempo

Hey before you do those hood struts, others may have different opinions, but I’d be super careful. They tend to bend up the mounting holes on the apron, or push up on the hood bending that as well. Could be a blessing in disguise wrong ones showed up.

Thanks for saying something. I was not aware but will check it out. That would have been a shame.

Took mine in for an oil change, got a video from the dealer, and my differential seal and both passenger and driver axle seals are leaking. The oil was sprayed all over both exhaust pipes and the under carriage of the car. I noticed after being stored for the winter in my climate controlled garage a teaspoon of gear oil on the floor. I’m glad I did not drive it. Couldn’t drive it since November then my street was under construction noticed it when I pulled it out to let it run. Only 9666 miles on it. Disappointing.

I had the same issue, it was found that due to the aluminum fenders (soft metal) and the holes weren’t properly stamped according to the paint shop in my fenders when I closed the hood the first time they came loose and damage both fenders. I immediately removed them and threw them into the garbage. A $1600 mistake. Ford Performance Struts I used.

Ford Performance pair have a bad bottom mount method , we got them off my friends before much damage was done.
That’s the same one I used sadly.
