Howdy all -

If you've been following my GT350 Engine Rebuild thread you'll know that we're getting close. Heads get in today from RGR and the short block will be delivered Monday. Dad flies in Wednesday to help with re-assembly and we plan to get 'er done over the weekend.

I have scheduled time on April 9th with JKS Performance in Mansfield, TX to do the dyno break-in and data logging for the tunes. Shaun at AED Tuning will be doing the tunes (remotely). Plan is get a very conservative 93 tune that is safe to run on pump gas when needed, and then create tunes for E85 and 100 octane race gas for when things can be rowdy.

Plan is to break-in the engine, gather data for the 93 base, then tune for 93, then create the 100 octane, and then do the same for E85. Plan to get dyno pulls on all 3 fuels.

So question is - anything in particular you guys want me to capture/gather/test? Unfortunately I won't be able to directly compare with a stock motor since I never dyno'd mine.

What is the break down of changes you are doing vs the stock engine? IE ported heads, any cam or compression changes?
Here's a list of mods. Motor is built for longevity, so I don't expect the gains to be HUGE. But the port/polish, catless mid-pipes, and E85 should provide some great gains.

Heads (machined/re-built by RGR):
  • Ported/polished heads
  • Ferrea Ti retainers
  • Bronze guides
  • Ferrea super alloy exhaust valves
  • Upgraded Ford Performance Intake valves
  • PAC Racing valve springs

Block (Machined/re-built by MPR Racing Engines):
  • Darton cylinder sleeves
  • Custom Diamond pistons (with road racing skirts/coatings)
  • Clevite main/rod bears with coating
  • Clevite billet connecting rods

Other changes:
  • 47lb injectors (for E85)
  • ARH long tubes and off-road mid pipes
  • FP350S oil cooling and Accusump Acumulator system
  • CF drive shaft

No cams were available at time of re-build, so will have to reevaluate when the engine needs a refresh!

Oh, and forgot to mention that we'll be using the SCT X4 for the programming device. Shaun is sending me a unit with a base tune to get the car fired up the first time.

Now I need to source myself some E85 and VP100...

I like to disassemble things.
Nice hardware list. Really looking forward to seeing you push this combination, hard.

Dyno re-scheduled for this Tuesday. Will be testing with some Sunoco 93 pump gas, Sunoco pump E85, and finally some Sunoco 260GT Plus.

Can't wait!

Are you going to video the 3 step process from the other thread?
I plan to. If I'm alone, I might not be able to grab as much footage as there will be a lot going. But plan is to document the break in process and what I can of the tuning.

Since the car has only been run for about 15 mins, I'll be paying close attention looking for surprises :)
