IS exposed carbon fiber better than painted on the wheels?

I always wanted exposed CF for my GT350R but after seeing this on a new Ford GT this weekend, I'm not so sure. It's probably cosmetic and nothing is wrong with the wheel but if there is going to be cosmetic flaws in the CF, that kind of goes against why I wanted exposed CF to begin with. I didn't notice this when I took the picture.

On the other hand - this reflecting off 1/2inch of a carbon fiber wheel....of everyone looking at the car, is neat. :)

I had a high end CF hood and have seen quite a bit (both in the car and sailing industries) and those inconsistencies - for me - make it more interesting, gives kind of an organic feel.

Make up your mind. If you don't like it so much, it's nothing that a paint gun can't fix.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the original GT350R was exposed carbon fiber. Then they made it black.

^^ If you mean the reveal car, I think they were silver/gray painted.

I'll have to look it up. Either I saw it in an interview or it was..... wait a min..... @Muligan bought a prototype wheel in exposed CF, I thought.

CF is not for show, its for performance, its a tedious process. People like to show it BECAUSE it is expensive and purpose made.
I have yet to purchase a CF product that was 100%. I expect OEM to have a much higher quality than aftermarket, but i still expect flaws

If you are the type that feels that any mismatch in the carbon fiber layup between sheets is a defect, you probably want painted.

I'm indifferent on wheels. But what really irks me is when carbon flash or carbon patterns are meshed (no pun intended) in interiors that have no business having those types of weave patters in them. Yeah I'm looking at you, Mustang aftermarket.

Negative - my coffee table wheel has a very thin coating of flat black paint that has worn away in a few spots, exposing the weave.
