IS exposed carbon fiber better than painted on the wheels?

From over 20 years of Aviation experience, CF parts are never perfect. In fact, Scott has a perfect example of the norm in CF manufacturing.

My thing was, I wasn’t worried or pissed about the carbon layout pattern because I was gonna paint it anyhow.
And I know I “could” of repaird the issues that were obvious.
I was pissed by the shitty workmanship of the vent placement and cutting.
There is absolutely no reason at all to have up to 3/8” gaps around the vents. They were not even consistent gaps. Some were tight with no gap and further down the vent it would open up to 3/8”.

I asked Sean Mason if I could purchase a hood without the holes cut or without the vents installed and he said unfortunately all of our hoods look like mine. He also told me to use “bondo” lmao. Ummmmmmm NO thank you. I’m not using bondo on dry carbon.
Not to mention some of the vent screw holes that were drilled didn’t even hold the vent to the hood itself because the flanges didn’t like up.
Very disappointing workmanship.
Just glad I got my money back.

The difference between "show" and "go". The part was functional but not great looking. I get it, but my expectations would have been different.

Almost every piece we use is modified to some extent either for fitment or finish. And you are exactly correct, Its not for show. CF natural properties make it appealing to the eye but cosmetic beauty is not functional property.

I know it’s a “race part” I get that.
But come on! Even if it was a $1000 part I’d still expect pride in ones work.

This is total hack work.

This has nothing to do with the finish. I’m specifically talking about Cooters lack of talent in using a air saw and grinder.
That’s why I asked Multimatic if I could return the hood and purchase it without the cut outs and fit the vents myself. Not to mention, many of the screw holes didn’t even line up. Some even broke through the edge of the hoods lip.

Yeah well you should of seen the GT4 hood I bought if you’re concerned about quality. This is what $12k gets you.
Straight from Multimatic.
So you paid 12k for a hood? Seriously? Don't get me wrong it's a beautiful piece and I'm sure it performs very well, and I would love to have one myself, but not for 12k.

How did you buy that from Multimatic? When I asked, they told me they don't sell any parts.

I have a Tiger Racing Carbon Fiber hood that had perfect fitment on my car. It was also wind tunnel tested

I know the right people and at the time couldn’t post pictures. Now I can.
I purchased this hood and other GT4 parts over a year ago.
Do yourself a favor. Skip the Multimatic parts. Totally not worth the price. Trust me.

This is a genuine GT4 hood. Sure it’s about 5 pounds and light weight, but as you see, the quality is a joke.
List was 12k. I got it for 10k.
Anything Multimatic makes, they believe it’s gold. Take for example these rear toe links I bought from them. They also have a problem of telling you the price. They send the parts then later tell you the cost and then won’t allow a return.
Lucky I was able to get my money back for the hood.

They wouldn’t sell me DSSV for my base 350. Should have been a straight forward install and a killer package. But.. no.

I’m not going to say the person or place I got them from because I was asked not to. But he kinda got stuck with them because of the way Multimatic does business. This is possibly why he no longer does business with Multimatic.
