MBRP race vs street?

I was going to add a mid pipe to my roush setup, but am afraid it will be a bit too loud. With all the sales going on, I can get a full 3" MBRP catback for pretty much the same price I paid for my Roush, and then can resell the Roush.

I can't seem to find what the difference is between the race and the street. Obviously the race would be louder, but is there any visual difference? Just different muffler internals?

I'm not worried about drone, it doesn't bother me and I rarely drive on the highway. I most likely won't do headers for a while, if ever.

Its just the mufflers that are different. If you dont care for drone definitely go race.

From all the clips I've heard, it actually sounds like the race has a cleaner, deeper, more crisp sound while the street is a bit raspy and tinny

You will be correct on that. I had the race before going street. I went to street only for drone, but now that I dont drive it all the time I want to go back to the race. Race is definitely deeper and street is raspy and tinny.

Awesome, that's what I wanted to hear. How is the quality of the exhaust? For the price, you'd think it was kinda cheap but I ran their downpipe on my Focus ST and had no issues

Quality is good. I have aluminum since I live in texas, but it's held up really well. Done 2 time attack events no problems and fitment was great.

Love my MBRP race. It's loud, but I get compliments on how good the car sounds all the time. The only thing that bothers me is the cold start. I cringe when I fire up the car at 5 am in my girlfriends quiet neighborhood

Yea I'm a bit worried about the cold start, but the roush I already have isn't exactly quiet at cold start either lol

The race is very deep and bassy compared to almost any other 5.0 exhaust I've heard. Comparable in sound to Magnaflow. I don't think its that loud, but it does drone. Quality and fit/finish is great.

No, it is Definately louder than the Magnaflow that I've heard. The MBRP just isn't as loud as people make it out to be IMHO.

The MBRP is one of the loudest I think, I agree the manga flow is quite in comparison,

The Street basically sounds like crap when it's brand new. REALLY pop-y and raspy. But I swear it changes every time I drive it. After 500+ miles, the popping is almost gone and it sounds MUCH deeper and smoother than it did new. I can actually leave it in D now, and let it cruise at 1400 RPM in 6th gear, without it being obnoxious. Most dramatic transformation I have ever heard in an exhaust. I am pretty happy with it now. Was pretty disappointed the day I installed it. So hang in there.

I completely agree. The street with some miles on them is a dramatic change. This is one exhaust that definitely has a break in period. I paired mine with longtubes and cat deletes and couldn't be happier. Car just sounds wicked and still little to no drone at any RPM. I haven't experienced any drone at all with mine no matter how I drive it. Best bang for the buck in my opinion.
