Hi all,

Doing my first mod today! Wahoo! Real excited.. My 2nd mustang, my 1st 5.0 V8. Already put almost 8k miles on it and ready for a kickstart!

Decided to go with X4 tuner and Bama V2 tunes. Tuner was delivered today and is waiting on my front step already preloaded with the V2 profiles. I ordered the 93 octane performance and 93 octane race tunes. Going to try the performance tune first and will report back with my impressions.

Have a battery charger connected to the vehicle's battery before uploading the tune. At the very least, make sure all consumers are switched off.

After you've loaded the tune make sure you log the tune and submit them to Bama. I've seen enough of their logs to scare the crap out of me when helping local guys out.

Is that a must? I don't have a battery charger :-(

I'm totally new to mod game and have no previous experience working on cars. Would appreciate any input from you all. It's appreciated.

Battery voltage is critical to properly flashing the ECU. You might not need a charger, but it is not something I would take to chance like that. If you don't have access to a charger, then I would at least drive the car for a few minutes then park it with everything off like the radio, a/c, seat heaters, defroster, things like that. Close the doors as well so the overhead lights are off.

X2

You DO NOT want to have a low battery when flashing a tune. Bad things happen.....

I will at least make sure I drive the car first with no accessories on. I haven't heard anyone having this problem on my internet research and Bama's website doesn't have any warnings about battery levels so I'm thinking I should be okay.

I appreciate everyone's input at trying to be cautious.

I'm running a Bama tune and haven't had any issues.
Never hooked my battery to a tender either. The chances of your battery dying while loading a tune is slim to none. Not saying it can't or wont happen, but it's not likely.

hardly anyone has put a tender on their car while flashing with ngauge or the sct here. you'll be fine and it's not a requirement nor is your battery going to die that fast. it's not like it takes forever. it's quick. Unless you got battery issues to begin with just do it and be done.

you've prob had your car doors and radio on longer before than a tune would take lol

Battery doesn't need to die, just drop the voltage below the safe limit and you can have flash errors or even completely corrupt the ECU. Over the last few years I've seen at least a dozen individuals post how their ECU bricked when they tried flashing a tune. I don't know Ford's specific minimum safe voltage, but I'd guess it's around 11.5v.

I am super excited! I'm thinking this will be one of three or four mods I will eventually do.
