I don't disagree with you, I was just stating that the DRs netted more than 0.4 improvement over the only other standard GT350 test we've seen so far. So, it wasn't only a tenth improvement over the other GT350 time, it was a tenth improvement over the time for the stock R. The MPH was up to 121 on the stock car with DRs though.
Okay I was drinking early today. Just woke back up.

If you want a car that is good at the strip and track, but sucks to drive on the street, get a viper.
Fixed. :)

Its not the mustang guys. Its the camaro guys trying to justify the camaro more and more.
It's interesting to me thinking about what type of person goes onto the forums for a car they don't like and posts there. It makes me feel a little better about myself that I don't.

I wonder if you guys that love 1/4 mile times would prefer a DCT and faster times over the 6 speed? Since this seems to be all about the 1/4 mile..

My buddy runs low 10's in his modified CTS-V, and promises he will smoke me at the track. I agreed with him and said I'd never care to run because that is not what the GT350 is about. There is value in balance, experience, and taking the long curvy road home.

If by DCT you mean dual clutch transmission id say no. I never owned anything but a manual (stick) transmission in a car and I like the fact of shifting my own gears. In my fox body I run a jerico DR4 with a LONG V-gate shifter. Maybe my choice of a Manual transmission is considered old fashioned but I'm ok with that. Your buddy with the CTS-V as you said is modified, the voodoo 5.2l is a all new animal and in time people will have these running solid numbers and I won't be surprised to see 10 and 9 second times. It is possible to have a 1/4 mile warrior and a road course terroir. In time you'll see forced induction on the voodoo.

Different strokes for different folks. I'd imagine a lot of GT350 owners will get this kind of trash talking from many other straight-line performers. Solution? Drown them out with a 8250rpm redline symphony. That's something no caddy, GM car will ever be able to have.

I am not disappointed at all they took the GT350 drag racing. I am waiting for the day I see someone with street tires rev the engine to 8000 rpm and pop the clutch. That should be wild.

I don't understand why people on this thread feel that we can't have both in the same car. Just because the GT350 is based on a road course does not mean it can't also be a drag car. It can be both. Nobody said anything about pulling the IRS and replace it with a 4 link. Or to put in a tubular front K member. We just talking about having a awesome handling car and great straight line acceleration.

Because Mustang guys.

Here Ford is, building a car that's bringing over BMW M owners, Porsche owners, and full blown exotic owners in droves because of its emphasis on being what the epitome of a driver's car is. Something that the automotive industry seems to have lost in the search for more impressive stats on a magazine page, or MPG. It's winning every single performance car award, including one involving the new LT4 Z06, the Viper ACR, and the Ferrari 488. All the while, we have people whining because it's not as fast in a straight line from a dead stop only as an automatic Camaro SS.

I just don't get it.
You got it right here. I have always liked both the Mustangs and Camaros over the years for their "American" heritage though I have never owned either. My biggest gripe against them are the "fans" of both and the constant bickering back and forth on which is better and so on. I could care less! My wife's JEEP will beat both of them 0-60 stock. On the streets, running from light to light is usually a 0-60 match for a lane change. Not something that will get you put in jail like a 1/4 mile run will! But that's not why I ordered my gt350 anyway.

I have been with Nissan Z's for the last 15 years simply because they look cool, have "okay" power, and handle very very well. I was going for a GTR in the long run, though my wife wanted me to get a 911. I was going to "settle" for a Challenger SRT because of $$ and we both agreed with that one.

Then...

Ford announced the GT350 and I realized... I could have both American Muscle and a car that can handle and We can drive it everyday and not have to spend a crap load of $$$. :headbang: :ford:

Though that's not the end of the story on why I went with Ford... aka: I was born and raised in San Jose. If that means anything to anyone? ;)

What you're wanting will most likely be the GT500. This is something completely opposite. Were you asking these same questions when the Z/28 came out? Pretty much no one was because everyone knew its intent. Same for the GT350.

It does mean it cant be a drag car. It's gearing favors the upper RPM band. If anything, it would be a good car in a roll race, but not from a dead stop. It is what it is.

You must like the great mall.

The GT350 will be my first Mustang as well, and beat out a Cayman and C7 as a replacement for my 350z.

These 1/4 me times seem fine to me. More interested in how quickly I can get it around Laguna Seca, Thunderhill, and Sears Point.

A set of rear end gears will change the low end. But as of now the biggest gear set for the super 8.8 is the already installed 3.73. When the 4.10, 4.30 or 4.56 becomes available I'll be doing a gear change. I know what the cars intended build was for. But thats not going to stop people from drag racing it also. I'm a ford guy. I never asked anything from a GM.
