If and when they offer more gears for the super 8.8 I'll be installing at least a 4.10 possibly 4.30 gear sets. Last I read ford performance was talking about a 4.10 gear set soon. I wish mine would come in because the more I hear everyone talking about theirs the more excited I become. I'm curious what the trap RPM was and also the 60' times.

Why is everyone set on 1/4 mile performance? like an FPC engine was ever good for hard launches... It's low on torque and rotating mass... of course 1/4 mile and 60' times aren't going to be astronomical... It is a mid-high range engine designed to be in the upper RPM spectrum while being pushed hard around a track... The GT is going to be better for the weekend strip goers... It is sad to see so many people missing the entire point of this vehicle... the original GT350 was a road course car... not a drag strip monster... nothing but apples to oranges for those disappointed people...

It is nice to see 11's with a DR and that only a tenth or so improvement with a DR.

That's actually almost half a second improvement over the regular GT350. The R is the one that ran 12.1 on the MT test, the non R ran 12.4.

It will be good for anyones taste. most racing will be in a straight line. I want to see people improving this car for every segment of the industry. I dont want to be a test dummie and have a year to see what others do.

I'll take salt in the eyes before I worry too much about M/Ts quarter mile times BUT they do try to simulate street conditions BUT street racing is illegal so maybe thats the wrong approach anyway.

Because even though it was made for road course a lot of people drag race. Some want both such as me. I enjoy both drag and road racing and their is nothing wrong with wanting to have the best of both worlds. Soon you will see these cars showing up at drag strips all across the country and all trying to achieve the same goal. SPEED!

I don't disagree with you, I was just stating that the DRs netted more than 0.4 improvement over the only other standard GT350 test we've seen so far. So, it wasn't only a tenth improvement over the other GT350 time, it was a tenth improvement over the time for the stock R. The MPH was up to 121 on the stock car with DRs though.

The GT350 and the R should do much than this in the Quarter. It's slow.

That's just not what it's made for, man. We're not going to see crazy ETs without gear swaps most likely. It's just like the Z28 only running 12.3@117. Add 80hp to a fifth gen Camaro SS, and it will most likely beat the Z28 in a drag race.

Nobody seems to want to hear this, but the GT350 isn't geared for acceleration from a stop. It's made for accelerating from a roll and holding gears for minimal shifting. Slap some 4.10, 4.30, or 4.56 gears in there so you can make use of first gear, and it will be a different animal. I don't foresee anyone breaking into the mid-11s completely stock. Maybe I'll be proven wrong. I predicted that it would be good for at least a 12.0, or maybe a little better. Looks like that was a good guess.

Thank you! People are expecting 13-14 GT500 1/4 times out of the 350 which is just dumb.

The new Camaro SS is faster 0-60 and the quarter than the 350 and R. I expected the 350 to do better. Wait till the 2018 ZL1 arrives with 650HP and destroys the GT350R around a road course. Ford will have to build a 700+ GT500.

You mean the same 650hp motor that's in the Z06 that just lost to the GT350R in Road & Track's performance car of the year competition?

It's not about straight line speed, and it's not even completely about laying down world slaying road course times. It's about the complete driving experience. You may need to buy a Chevy if that bothers you.

Yes the same one that was 1 second off the 918 spider time at VIR.

If you want a car that is good at the strip and track, get a viper.
