-Tune+ Transmission Tuning Review-
My car is quick. Although it's not Compton, Tittermary, or Yo Ken! (barely), quick- it's almost there. 12.18 @ 111 is no slouch for minimal bolt ons and a top notch tune.
I asked Adam to hook me up with the trans tuning to push me past the 12 sec mark into the 11's in my road race build car.
What I expected was not what I got. I expected jerky, hard shifts that barked tires and unsettled the car- you know, because racecar.
What I got was exceptionally better. Without any further polishing the car leaves better, shifts faster, cleaner, and with authority. I was hitting the rev limiter paddle shifting too close to my mark. Now I can hold it out to a hair under redline, hit the paddle, and boom- next gear.
Rowing through the gears is like a seamless onslaught of power. No lag, no searching for RPMs, no BS recovery- just shifting.
I've driven some of the best auto transmissions available. The Aventador and F430 specifically- while they were better, the gap has been narrowed. It is borderline DCT. This is as good as the transmission will ever get in this car- I should have gotten it much earlier as the drag race season closes soon and I want to post hero numbers.
I will have more feedback after the track day on the 7th. I expect to break more hearts on the road course.
If you are in doubt about whether or not you need the trans tuning, I suggest you rethink your purpose in modding. This brings it all together.
Worthwhile upgrade? Yes
I know some might balk at having so much invested in a tune. I spent nearly $1000 tuning my last car on the dyno. No future revisions, no tech support, nothing. Just a tune for max HP and a bill. God forbid I changed my boost or nitrous settings.
