Just removed mine. Still got to drive it though. At least removing it was easier then removing it on my 370... And the dead space at the top is hardly noticeable compared to how it was on my 370 which needed a lighter spring to make it go away. I don't feel like I will need a lighter spring on the Mustang. So I'm sure I'll be happy with it.

Agree to disagree. I look at the motion of the assembly and see the spring go from compressed to relaxed in one motion. If the spring (due to positioning) gets compressed initially then goes to relaxed, it is so slight that it is not noticeable by the naked eye. I would venture to say that if your explanation is correct, the hindering/helping pivot point is maybe 10% into the pedal press, not in the middle. Either way the spring is staying out.
No it's not. Look at the video:

And if you're still not convinced re-read this thread and pay attention to people's feedback about the fact that the pedal does not retract all the way after spring removal!
Watching the video, I tend to agree that the pivot point is about 10% into the pedal press. Just saying.

I had to order some vice grip needle nose off of amazon. I tried doing it with just normal needle nose and that wasnt happening. Ha

I cant wait to have this damn spring removed. I hate the way it feels stock.

I just used a set of channel locks. Took two minutes. I found you get better grip leverage with channel locks. Hold down the pedal with one hand, grab two coils with the channel locks, pull back off the top perch, slide the bottom off and done!

I must have done something different, because I just pressed the clutch in all the way with one hand and used the other hand to pull the spring/plastic clips right off.

Same here, no tools needed at all. Took 15 seconds.

That's a cool car.

GTPP people have you noticed a reduction in the thumping of the MT 82 since removing the clutch spring.

I don't hear it nearly as much.
No. :(

I care about infotainment
Just removed it earlier today when I got home from work, and broke off a piece during removal, which I'm not happy about in case I want to put it back.

Tomorrow morning's commute is when I'll be able to tell if it was worth it or not. From a quick 2 minute drive after removal it felt significantly heavier (closer to my S197) but engagement is linear and predictable which is more important to me. I can get re-used to the heavier clutch, and hopefully my shifts will be smoother now.

Yeah it is heavier. It took about 2 days and I was used to it and forgot what it felt like with the spring in. I had an afternoon a few weeks back where I spent about 2 hrs in a different S500 (with spring still in), and upon returning to my car, nearly stalled it backing out of my parking spot! :headbonk:

The feel is worth it, though.

Does anyone have the part number for the clutch assist spring and the little plastic part in the middle of it, I broke or lost mine and I need to put it back in due to a foot injury [emoji20] I've had it out since May but its killing me every time I push in the clutch.

I broke part of one of the ears on mine and I did put in back in with the broken side facing the passenger side and it still works fine.

I did check with Ford 3 to 4 months ago and you could not get just the spring setup, just the whole pedal assembly which was about $100. Maybe that has changed.

Oh boy haha, I think mine might be too broken to work I'll check it out though. That's kind of stupid if you have to buy the entire pedal assembly for one little part.

My 2010 is much heavier. Without the spring, this one feels perfect to me.

I love the clutch and the shifting action...I'm trying to learn to live with the thud. I am going to drive another GT Saturday to see if it is like mine. I notice it's much worse with the windows down (which I won't be doing much of in the scheme of things) but have been riding with them down since I got it (mostly) as the weather has been perfect.

It should sound worse with the windows up, but 'tis not the case. Thankfully, I guess.

113, do you notice the thud?
