This.

All you hear is how great they are, blah, blah, blah. Well, yeah - they should be, displacing what they do (i.e. 6.2L as in the Camaro). Not to mention being a ripoff/evolution of the pushrod small-block Ford.....but I digress.

I have a relative that has a '12 SS (auto) that just got headers, CAI, and tune. I've ridden in it and it scoots pretty well, but I'm thinking, "Big fucking deal, it should rip, all things considered." I've had faster SBFs....

This winter my '15 will get a CAI and Lund tune, and then we're going to Mexico to shoot it out. :D
Ripoff of a small block Ford?

LMAO, I've heard it all.:lol:

Been rebuilding V8s for 30 years, all makes, the LS has many similarities to the SBF, particularly in the heads and intake layout. Become educated, sir.

Equally obsolete.

Well considering his auto only has 400hp to your 435hp and is a 200+lbs heavier, it will take his mods just to come close to your stock GT.

Equally spaced exhaust ports do not equal exact copy. :headbonk:

But hey, both were pushrod motors, so you might be on to something.

You forgot front sumped, distributor when equipped is in the front, the timing chain housing and water pump assembly are also similar. Cross bolted mains, deck surfact and structure just like a Y-Block. Ten head bolts per bank. Chevy was dumpster diving behind Ford's headquarters and that's for sure.

Huh, maybe that's why so many Ford hot rodders do an LS motor swap. Basically a Ford copy.

I went 12.66 on a 38 degree night in the SS. Mods were texas speed 1 7/8th headers without cats. Muffler and resonator delete. CAI and SCT3 tuner. So far my best in the GT is 12.40 on a 70 degree summer night with tune & CAI. Both runs were on street tires for both carswith 1.9 sixtys

That's because people can't shift their own gears very well. That and the 5th gen was not a great 1/4 mile performer.

Actually those would be Chevy guys having to buy a Ford because Chevy couldn't make them a fast car.

The best I could get out of my stock 2012 Camaro SS/RS auto was a 12.9 with great DA but 13.1-13.2 was more the norm.

Yes, it is.......Ill take it any day of the week , as a daily driver, over a temperamental dyno queen....:headbang:
Now a days it doesn't have to be a dyno queen to make 800. Strap a blower or turbo on your car and you'll be singing a different tune.
