Never do this if you like your clutch. Bad technic.[/QUOTE]

A rookie at driving manuals would talk like that.

OP...Watch this video...at 5.47s he demonstrates the technic...It comes in handy in situations of tight slow up hill traffic.

UPDATE 2: they said something about the flywheel being "disintegrated". They said the clutch is fine. Not sure how this happened but apparently the car wash did not do the damage like I thought. Now I'm waiting till Monday to hear if this will be covered under warranty. Anyone know what the cost of this repair would be if it's not covered?

Earliest I would get the car back is Tuesday :(

So disappointing as I only owned the car 18 hours before she went to the hospital. Just want to drive her so badly.

Flywheels are not supposed to disintegrate. This sounds like it should be covered under the warranty with no hassle. At this point if the clutch is fine, I'm hard-pressed to think of anything you might have done to destroy the flywheel (especially in under 200 miles).

If your dealership does end up trying to hook you for it, I'd suggest contacting Deysha here. This is otherwise a rather pricey repair (I'm guessing about $1k).

This is very strange, as the flywheel is pure metal and the clutch disk is metal and friction material. How can the flywheel disintegrate and not cause any damage to the clutch? I'd like to see photos of this failure.

I have to agree this does not make sense at all. I would ask to see the clutch and flywheel with your own eyes. Even if you do not know what you are looking at take pictures just for your documentation and to post and show us lol

The dealership said that they took pictures in order to file a warranty claim. Maybe they can send me those.

Hey see if you can get a copy of those pics and post them here. Sounds very promising for a true warantee claim though! I also can't see how a flywheel would disintegrate at all, let alone not take the clutch with it, but maybe there was just a major defect in it to start.

I think this will be good news for you in the end bud...

Is slipping the clutch while reversing okay? If not, how do you reverse in a manual ?

Yes; it's a necessity. You're never going to be going fast enough in reverse (well you shouldn't be) to fully engage the gear. In parking situations you have to feather the clutch to maintain appropriate speed and control.
