I agree and would wonder if they will take a form of the v6 that is going into the new GT and leverage that.......SteveI also would not hold your breath on a V8 GT500. Very well could go to eco boost
Well,.......that sucks. But, I'm still willing to pay that much for one. I like it that much. Plus,...it "should" be much easier to get one. Maybe,.....'16 hellcat msrp went up almost $5k
Man,...that sucks. :(I also would not hold your breath on a V8 GT500. Very well could go to eco boost
The dealer I ordered my GT350 from is supposedly the third largest Mustang dealer in the nation. According to them, Ford will discontinue all V8s after 2018. Take that w/ a grain of salt, it's just something that the guy mentioned in conversation.No. Spoke with one of the performance sales managers at one of the higher volume mustang dealers in the country back in June. His statements were that as Ford was developing the Voodoo with Rousch that separately they were beginning development of a TTV8.
Hope it's good info as the top tier muscle mustang GT500 just wouldn't be right with a turbo 6. As the power plant for the new GT it makes sense as it's compact and developed for endurance racing. The GT500 just has different goals, namely to terrorize the street and strip in IMO.
While I don't think that guy knows better than anybody else, the writing is probably on the wall for the death of the V8 within the next decade. The next corporate average mileage target is 35mpg in 2020, which is a scant 5 years away. I think it's pretty possible for a turbo V6 to replace the Coyote in the GT. I don't think however there's enough volume in the special edition Mustangs to prevent them from not using a V8 there. So why do they put the turbo V6 in the Raptor to replace the V8?GT500 just wouldn't be right with a turbo 6. As the power plant for the new GT it makes sense as it's compact and developed for endurance racing. The GT500 just has different goals, namely to terrorize the street and strip in IMO.

I don't even get that in my '14 Platinum around So. Cal.Gas mileage is shit on the fx4 ecoboost trucks. I was getting 14.5-15 combined.
