I'm with you, I love the exterior (saw one in person yesterday) but the interior looks... ugly to be honest... I'm sure the fit and finish is top notch, it just doesn't look good imo.
This. The interior is carryover from the dated IS interior.

It's due for an update.

It's not horrible. But it's not great or modern either.

Beautiful car all around. I *did* cross shop back in September (and didn't go with either). The original pics of the RCF had tri-LED lamps in the front that look a lot better then what it ended up with (as well as other body designs). I eventually took it off the table, it just costs to much. The Mustang is by *far* the best bang for the buck. I am also a former owner of a Lexus IS350. I just cant justify paying badge tax's (which is why I will never buy a 3 series BMW which at the top had a near $20,000 badge tax).

Exactly. People are blowing our point of view out of water. As you mentioned, we ALL agree that the exterior and bits of the interior are beautiful. But I don't understand how some viewers justify the outdated center console by calling it "Lexus' own unique style". It's clean, I'll give it that but IMO there is nothing unique or modern about what's inside the pink rectangle -

Sorry, in my opinion (other than the seats) that interior is horrid. Does not look cohesive. And that center cluster looks aftermarket, like a pro sports player had it done in LA where bling matters more than refinement and ingenuity.

Better than the Camaro by far.

But the s550 blows the Lexus interior out of the water.

I'll chLkenge anyone to focus on the center console of each and think the Lexus IS superior.

No way.

Sure it sounds crazy that a mustang has s better interior than a Lexus for crying out loud. But in this case, if your focus is the center console, which is what we've been talking about, you're blind if you don't think the Lexus is dated.

The gt you say you own... Which is questionable due to your Camaro love... It isn't an s550.
Have been driving the car since October 20th. Traded in a 2012 ls3 2ss/rs for it. I m not in love with any of them, for me the best bang for the buck wins.

Personally I don't like anything about it. The exterior looks like a Mish-mash of disjointed lines and shapes mashed into a BMW M-3/4 Mold. I hate the new Lexus Corporate Grill, and paired with the Odd shaped headlights and Nike Swoosh LED under cut signature lighting, It makes the front of the car look like a Cross Eyed Cylon that got Punched in the face. The Dash is just as big of a mess. It literally looks like someone sorted through a box of leftover parts and forced them together and slapped some Leather here and there to try and make it go together. They're really trying too hard to be Different. In my opinion, Clean, Elegant, Simple Design is what a car in this price class needs, not a design that will look ridiculously dated in a few years. The current trend in Japanese Design is just Odd to Be Odd, much like it was in the 70's.

Just look at the Horrible Mess of the Sculpting of the Front End and Front Fenders. That is one of the Ugliest, most Convoluted front Fender Lines I've ever seen. Just Hideous.

The Rear looks like sombody slapped a couple of different Body Kits on a Corrola to me.

LOL on the cyborg pic...almost had coffee come out my nose. Agreed 100% though...this thing doesn't even beat an older E92 M3 in its performance numbers and the looks are so contrived.

GT all the way...for that money you can own an M4 or go get a used E92 M3. They look better and are even quicker...

I drove an RCF last weekend. I think the interior is much nicer than the mustang, the seats alone are just a lot nicer, IMHO. I like the looks. Now as far as performance, it's different but it hauls ass for sure, love the 8 speed transmission. I don't think it is going to be as happy on the track as a GTPP but on open roads it's more than enough. I love the 170+ top end on it and the 0-60 is a solid number. Not sure why ford didn't build the GT to be a 165 car.

I'm still getting a GTPP but dam if I wanted to spend 70k I would buy the RCF, Caymen, M4. I won't pay 70K for a GT350 out of principle. Lexus over a German car..easy choice for me I have Lexus cars before.

Buying the wife a IS350 F-Sport...like that car also.

I haven't seen anyone pulling 4.5 0-60 in a GT stock.

For $70k - why wouldn't one try to get GT350 ? And recent Lexuses are ugly as hell. New RX is not far from Aztec in its ugliness.

The new RX is nothing compared to the new Prius:

First time I saw it, it reminded me of the Aztec, which looks beautiful compared to it. At least the front in the Aztec isn't so bad.

Not worth the hassle. With beemers it's eiter get a new one, or don't get one at all, because it's just a money pit after the warranty.

Well thats not my experience...

Trust me that talk is still relevant, it's just that e92 have barely gone out of their warranty/free service time window, and not many people experienced "the real BMW". Once warranty is over, there is so many things that can go wrong, maybe not today, maybe not in a week, but when the car hits lets say 100k miles, there is only hope that it's not something big. Some of more common isssues are- "however, alongside it there are many things that can go wrong. The headlights are known to build up moisture inside and become foggy over time. That might seem like a ridiculous problem at first but over time this small issue can turn into something big, forcing you to replace the lamp altogether. They aren’t cheap!

Other common issues on the E92 include the idle air valve and DCT gearbox lag. The former usually appears after 20,000 miles and manifests itself over time. When starting the engine, the revs drop below 500 RPM and then start fluctuating. Sometimes, the engine can stop altogether. Replacing it is a rather expensive fix.

In the case of the laggy DCT gearboxes the issues seems to be the fact that the transmission and ECU learn how the owner drives the car. Therefore, after a while, the shifts start showing lag. And we mean big time! The car would then have to be sent to a dealership for a software update that might not solve the issue! BMW claims that would sort it out but in real-life owners have complained about it even after the software update was installed." ~ http://www.autoevolution.com/news/what-to-look-for-when-buying-a-used-e92-m3-86260.html

And replacing an engine in a BMW isn't rather cheap. Germans themselves don't like BMWs too much either, they might not admit it right in front of you, but they don't because it's not a reliable car it once used to be (it all ended with the e30 production).

First off most new cars today being as sophisticated as they are will start having issues when you start hitting 100k miles. Hell my simple as hell 2007 Ford Focus went to hell and a hen basket after just 70k miles. Between waterpumps, alternator and on to a bad powersteering pump all at or near 70k miles. My buddy had a 2008 Mustang GT500 that was a total mess after 60k miles, he sold it for a Focus ST.

Regarding the E92 M3 yes they have some issues, the one that scares me the most is that it seems 1.5% of the engines out there may have to tight of clearances with the rod bearings and the engines are failing. It seems that changing out rodbearings at a cost of $2k is going to become a maintenance issue. However, BMW has covered a lot of these engines post warranty as long as the car wasn't supercharged or heavily tuned.

The E92 M3s have turned out to be very robust especially when you consider how hard most of these cars are being driven. The DCT issue is pretty much solved as it was a software issue, I went with a 6 MT as I too am afraid of what it would cost to repair when it is finally necessary to replace these things, but there are DCT cars now that are well past 100k miles with no issues at all and a few are supercharged at 700+rwhp and the trannies are surviving. Lets see Ford comeout with a DCT then see how well they do.

You don't think Ford is going to have issues with their Ecoboost cars down the line...I wouldn't hold your breath.

I think this is an issue from a lot of new cars that are released, the more complex they get the more issues you are going to have.

BTW, in this forum go to the TSB, maintenance sub forum and check all the issues with the S550, a car thats only been out for less than a year.

We can agree that we disagree, I can only go on my own experiences. End of thread jack..OP I would go with the S550 over a RCF.
