I know there are a couple of threads out there regarding various "dead battery" issues. I'm adding mine to the mix...

So, I got back from a 3-week motorcycle trip throughout Canada/USA/Mexico only to return to the car being completely without power. I had to pop off the keyhole cap to get into the car with the key, as the fob obviously wasn't unlocking it. What's strange is, my wife even drove it once within the 3 week period to make sure it got some use. I left the battery charger hooked up for the entire long-weekend and it seems like it's back to normal again today. There must be a fairly large electrical draw while the car is off on this generation. I doubt it's a battery issue at this point.

Maybe she left a light on?

Not really - I left it already twice for two week periods when I was on overseas business trips and nobody touched it during those - started with absolutely no problem after I was back.

I thought the same at first, but when I hooked up the battery charger, no interior lights or anything were on.

Odd. Maybe it is a weak battery? I'll have to get it looked at.

I think the lights turn themselves off after a period of time (maybe 10 mins) even if left on. Discovered this on day 2 of vehicle ownership when I realized that I had left the dome lights on overnight by mistake (was reading the manual in the car after dark). When I went to start the car, it started right up and the I assumed the dome light had turned itself off. Great feature (since I've twice had totally dead batteries after forgetting dome lights on in previous cars).

it's not the first time i've heard of an enhanced security equipped vehicle with a dead battery after a few weeks. search the forum, you'll see at least 2 others that suffered the same fate.

my guess is that the enhanced security package is always drawing power and eventually kills the battery.

Inside tip to auto thieves: Watch for 2015/2016 Mustangs with the enhanced security package that have been parked for over a week and have at 'em!

I know the light on my battery is orange. Never any problem starting it though and everything seems to work fine.

I think my power magic pro for my dash cam might be the culprit. I have it set to cut the power when voltage drops to 11.8v. Not sure if the drain on the battery until 11.8v has caused battery to weaken (or whatever the orange light indicates).

I was referring to smash and grabs/theft from auto, not necessarily the vehicle being stolen itself. We all know that theft from autos is a more common problem.

Yeah, I do have a dash cam, however, my dash cam powers off 2 minutes after the vehicle is turned off. Doubt it's a factor.

I had my battery die from accidentally leaving the parking lights on for about 6 - 8 hours. 100% dead battery. I would think that they would shut off after a certain time frame or if the computer sensed the battery getting low to save energy?

I had to leave my Premium Mustang in the garage for three weeks. I did not set the perimeter alarm and made sure that all lights, etc. were off. When I got back, the screen gave a warning that the battery was low. Luckily she turned over...I drove her for half an hour. Stopped over at Batteries Plus and bought their best battery minder. I now leave the minder plugged in if I have to leave the convertible sit for more than a week. Starting batteries don't like to be depleted...it will take just a couple of complete recharges to ruin the battery. It appears that the static electronics will drain the battery if the car sits for more than a couple of weeks.
