How did you get an invite ? My understanding was it was for past Boss and 13/14 GT 500 original owners only. The spots were filled very quickly and left a lot of owners out in the cold.
At the LS event on Friday, the first half of the day was all current Boss / GT500 owners and the second half was all Porsche / BMW / etc owners.
They're inviting different constituents to broaden the appeal for the car...which I think is a really smart move.

Totally agree. When the C7 was revealed in 2013, GM also invited non-Corvette owners to the Precision Stingray event at various tracks that summer/fall... I was one of them. Never owned any Vette before that. Needless to say, their marketing move worked on me... even went from a C7 Z51 to a C7 Z06. :D

I don't recall seeing anyone on here recently (2-3 wks)who has found a R still available for even $25K or less over MSRP. These glowing reviews won't help anyone's case either.

Wow, the exclusivity and scarcity sure does have a high price! Reminds me of the current Cayman GT4 situation... unobtanium unless you're willing to fork another 20k-30k over, even for a pre-owned!

What's most annoying is that most of the press has been heavily biased towards the R car. It's going to be obnoxious explaining to people that have read headlines and snippets of the reviews that:

"No, my GT350 does not in fact have carbon fiber wheels. Sure, I would have loved to have bought the R. Yes, it is a great value but there weren't any to buy."

Then you have to explain Ford's whole marketing and production strategy. It's going to be a whole thing. #firstworldproblems

Bro do not feel bad, according to half of the people on this site, Ford will make as many GT350's as the market will bare interest for....

Every person ive told that I have the GT350 on order has asked "Is it an R?!?"

Promptly followed by

"Why not"

Then followed by my sorrowful reply of how they are unobtanium for average guys like myself. First world problems indeed.

When has it been any different? Interesting to note that in your mind half the people on this site are crazy
because they see things in a historical, rational perspective.

I'm hoping that they will. All this marketing is for naught if you can't deliver enough of the product. Why invite BMW, Porsche, etc. clubs to the test drive events if you aren't planning enough product to supply even your loyal base(Ford/Mustang fans)? I understand that the R will be more limited (probably due to specific part manufacturing limitations) but the non-R "should" be more plentiful or Ford has screwed up (in my mind).

I'm still working on a dealership for a low (or hopefully no) ADM 'R' deal. Pulling my hair out though. :headbonk: For me, it is an R or nothing.

Did you seriously just say that an M4 would lose to a GT350R in a drag race? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black on "talking out of your ass". The GT350 is going to be an amazing car, yes, but let's be real here:

The M4 has a curb weight of 3530 lb, with a peak torque of 408 lb-ft available as low as 1850 RPM.

The GT350R (with all the lightening it has over the GT350) has a curb weight of 3650 lb, with a peak torque of 429 lb-ft at 4750 RPM.

While the GT350 has the advantage in peak horsepower, the lighter weight and significantly beefier torque curve of the M4 would easily win out. Not that any of this matters, anyway, because the track is where both of these cars were designed to shine.
The M4 will get its front bumper cover yanked off.

I am a member of PCA and PBOC driving club. It is my understanding that Ford requested the mailing lists from our clubs for a targeted invitation, as a number of my friends from these clubs reported receiving the invitation.

Smart of them. They must feel like you guys will be impressed or why risk inviting.

Among the Porsche driving enthusiasts with whom I interact, very few are "Porsche snobs". As a matter of fact there has been a fair amount of discussion about this Mustang on the Rennlist Porsche forum, the vast majority being very positive. One guy posted some snobbish comment about it just being a Ford Mustang, and he was taken to task by other members about such a silly opinion.

Yes, we love our P-cars, but ultimately we are car enthusiasts. Heck, one of my favorite cars is the Mx-5 Miata! I won't hesitate to add a Mustang to my garage if the GT350 gives me the experience at Sebring I think it will based on all the positive comments I've read. I just won't pay an ADM. :-)
