One thing that doesn't get mentioned often if ever. The SCT software only works on pc. No apple

Not only that but setting up a data log file is more work than it should be. The ngauge is way more straight forward.

Looks from the E-Motion Web page the N-gauge only works with Windows too.

I think SCT X4 data logging is very easy. Plug it into the car scroll through the menu and pick the vehicle type and it logs everything the device monitors. It down loads from the device to your PC as a CSV file ready to be opened with Microsoft Excel or can be viewed in the SCT software. Or you can use the SCT software to setup a custom log format and transfer it to the device. The tuners I have delt with have sent me a custom format to use for what they want to see.

While not as slick as N-gauge the X4 has display screens for for monitored parameters too.

I have two issues with N-gauge;
1. The company E-Motion that makes it doesn't develop tunes for cars so they have no first hand knowledge of what specific cars need or issues that may arise.
2. There is a very very limited number of tuners that support N-gauge.

I have x4 and have no issues. I will be selling and going nguage for two reasons and only these reasons 1. I'm a nerd and want a ghost tune as soon as Lund make sit for he auto and 2. I will be going through beefcake for a supercharge solution which means Lund for tuning.

Don't think you can go wrong either way, Bama had been great for me and my log's say they did a good job on my tune. Will be going a different direction because my mods will take me there.

I got an X4 and JLT and a Lund email tune through Beefcake and I had no issues with the X4 tune loaded flawlessly. I do like the data logging options the ngauge offers though, as my laptop just took a shit and only works when plugged in. So if I want to log I need to get a power innverter or borrow someone's laptop. For now with just the JLT I assume I'm pretty close to as good as its gonna get with a Lund tune.

I do have a question though. When you load the tune from X4 there are some options that can be changed, like Redline, tire size, gear ratio etc. They all say STOCK and Redline is set to 7K. I'm guessing the info Lund gets from ordering the tune STOCK is MY cars stock options right? I don't need to go in and select 3.73 for example right? Because I didn't change anything I just left it how it was sent to me.

So if I bought the SCTx4 with the custom Lund tune do I just buy the 299.00 Ngauge device now and still receive the tuning? Just want to be clear.

Has nobody thought about the possibility of someone breaking into your car and stealing your tuner?! How would you return to stock?! Change tunes?! Anything?! Way too expensive to leave in the car IMHO.
Good point, I definitely wouldn't leave it parked in public with the suction cup mount keeping it in plain view. I have seen people break into cars for much less.

Awesome thanks! [emoji106] and thanks for the great customer service. After I talked to you the other day it worked immediately after hooking it back up to the PC again. I thought all I was supposed to do was update it before plugging it into the car the first time.

You do not need to have your laptop in the car to log with the SCT X4. That was one of the added features over the X3.

Just go to the gauge/log menu and select 08 up Ford Gas log format and you are ready to log. Or, you can build a log file format with the parameters you want using the SCT LiveWire software and load that to the X4. Or, in my case my tuner sent me a log file format the way he wanted to see it to use.

Once done logging you bring the X4 into the house and down load the log file to your PC. It is a CSV file that opens with Excel or use the LiveWire software to view it.

The STOCK setting is what Ford loaded into the PCM from the factory for your car. So if your car came with 3.73s then no need to change the setting to 3.73.

I up my redline to 7200 just to see if I could get a better 0-60 time with only one shift. With the stock 6800 I hit the rev limiter in 2nd before reaching 60.
