^^ This. I sit taller than most people. I can see half the diver's side vent, and none of the passenger side vent. These things were a better idea with the flat-hooded '67 cars.I don't know how you can see the right turn signal because I cant see my right air vent because of the ridge in the hood.
Old enough to remember these features for sure. I just hope they never bring back those god awful tail-fins for any car. I remember clumsily riding my bicycle into one back in 65' and it left a mark.:headbonk:I hope everyone realizes that this stuff is just retro styling. Lots of 60's cars had fender and hood reverse facing turn signals. Also the when Ford designed the interior they used aircraft cockpits as inspiration hence the "Ground Speed" on the speedometer and the toggle switches. After all the Mustang is named after the P-51 fighter.
Seems that it may have been named after both according to these but I have always heard the plane.Old enough to remember these features for sure. And by the way, the car is named after a wild horse.
I wondered that as well, completely pointless. Would never be allowed in Europe either.really I'm so glad my 15 doesn't have them. what the hell is that for anyway?

Maybe it's just me, but the car's badge looks more like a horse than a plane.... And by the way, the car is named after a wild horse.

Different people also invariably have unique interpretations of the same events. In his book “Mustang Genesis,” author Bob Fria quotes designer John Najjar:
R.H. Bob Maguire, my boss, and I were looking through a list of names for the car. I had been reading about the P-51 Mustang airplane and suggested the name Mustang in remembrance of the P-51, but Bob thought the name as associated with the airplane was too ‘airplaney’ and rejected that idea. I again suggested the same name Mustang, but this time with a horse association because it seemed more romantic. He agreed and we together selected that name right on the spot, and that’s how it got its name.
Not necessarily! There is much more to the hood vents than looking cool. They are duel function. One is heat extraction the other release of pressure that builds up under the hood and causes lift.Jeez, so much complaining. Are the hood vents necessary? No. Are they cool? Absolutely! I like the vent turn signals, and the sequential turn signals. It's a Mustang, if everything was super practical we'd all be in base model Priuses.
Thank you for the video. Not necessarily! There is much more to the hood vents than looking cool. They are duel function. One is heat extraction the other release of pressure that builds up under the hood and causes lift.
I agree they are cool, I like them. In fact I'll be replacing my 2016 vents with either 2015's or Roush. Why? Because I think the turn signals are gimickie and largely useless and they reduce the size of the vent opening which reduces their primary function, IMO!
Watch the video starting at the 1:25 mark. Very imformative on the aero design of the original hood vent heat extractors.
