    Updated September 22:

I made them a deal-they effed up my car pretty bad so I said to them Friday night:

"I'm not mad, shit happens, but I shouldn't have to eat the lost value due to a major accident you caused. Treat me right, and tomorrow AM you will sell a car. Come up with some numbers and call me, I'm going home to relax with a beer and a vape, I'm stressed. I'm not looking for a handout or something for nothing. Just make me whole financially."

This morning they treated my trade in as an un-wrecked perfect condition car. They gave me ABOVE high end KBB value, and a very nice discount on the 2018.

Everyone effs up from time to time, a bad business handles it poorly. A good business handles it well. This dealer handled it well and most likely gained a life-long mustang buyer.

In case anyone else ever has this happen, I think it's important to note that I handled it calmly and rationally, and I think the dealer could see that I wasn't greedy or looking for some kind of payout I didn't deserve, so they fixed me up.

    Origina post - September 21:

Title says it all. Uploading photos now. I bought it 3 months ago, and brought it in today at 5,000 miles for a tire rotation, oil change, and to repair clicking/knocking brakes and they wrecked it.

Apparently tried to squeeze between a median and a Dodge to get to a turn lane...the rear end is wider than the front so....this.

They want to repair it, but I won't accept a ruined car. Anybody have the number on hand to Ford Customer service?

Thank you. All my owner's manual stuff is in the car.

Be sure to mention diminished value. The proper repair would be to replace the quarter panel.

Sorry to see that. I had my 05 unscratched for 3 years before the dealership dropped a floor stand into the drivers door and quarter panel. If they do repair it make sure they repaint the whole side of the car, especially if clear coated, as you'll see a shade difference between non-painted front fender and repainted door and rear quarter panel. I had the whole side repainted on my Legend Lime 05 and the only off shade I could see was the rear bumper to quarter panel in really bright conditions and only if I was looking for it.

Definitely. Already talking to someone about the diminished value. As far as I am concerned it's ruined. The wheel is facing backward!

Thanks. At this point, the car is so new, I am looking at "other" courses of action.

Ford customer service probably won’t help much with this. It’s a civil matter, and the dealers insurance will have to pay. If they refuse/won’t make you whole again, you’ll have to lawyer up and take them to court.

The car owner's insurance is primary and if he signed the repair order the dealer is off the hook.

They have their own insurance and have already admitted they are at fault.

They would never be able to match that paint color, I would only accept a new Mustang. Nothing less.

Tell them want to trade it in and see what they tell you. How much are they going to give you for it in that condition. Even better say how much they will give you after it gets fixed. Both answers should be exactly the same !!! Even trade

like your answer. you can find out on the internet what value your Mustang holds. that way you should be able to see what type of diminished value they put on it
