So here's a glimmer of hope. My dealer confirmed the no cooling issue and Ford approved replacing the entire seat cushion and cooling device. And the kicker is that the part is backordered for at least a month. The dealer and I are hoping that means Ford is working on a fix and will get them out to those who bring them in. No guarantees but I'll report back once the part comes if it is different than the original design. All I can do is hope and wait now.

Yeah, but I'll bet the same fix will be applied to the Mustang since the design and issue is very similar.
What GT said. :)

Whatever "snorkel" Ford fits to the F150 unit should fit to ours. (And the Fusion as well I would think)

If this is the route Ford is taking we will probably see some marginal cooling but I don't see them even coming close to the bottom in cooling ability short of a total system and back seat redesign. At this point I will take what I can get.

Don't be shocked that in a month if they replace your cushion and upper unit and it still doesn't cool properly. Just prepare yourself. Keep hopeful but don't be surprised when they replace it with the same old junk to start with. If and when a TSB comes out we will know if they are using this "snorkel" system or not. Until then I'm afraid its more of the same old same old.

Thanks but I don't believe anything till I see it. Im giving Ford time to fix it and if they don't then I'll make my own snorkel and vent the seat backs more if I have to. Just thought I'd share something a little different that came from Ford direct.

Since a fix from Ford (if ever arrives) will take some time and menawhile we are sweating in our hot leather seats, we need to create a temporary fix to cool our seats.
I'm thinking of a snorkel\duct with a tangent fan (sorry if it's not the correct translation) using power from the stock fan. This should work pretty good!

Something like that:

I haven't received my car yet so I don't know if there is enough space in the back seat to do this.

Is there less room in the Mustang seat? I agree that the snorkel will provide only minimal improvement (we'll get the cooling at the high setting that one would expect of the low setting).

Also, Fusion probably does not need it due to airflow from the underseat ducts cooling the TED. As I previously posted, my guess is that Ford blindly re-used the Fusion seat cooling arrangement without realizing the lack of underseat ducts in the Mustang meant insufficient cooling of the TED.

Sounds like there may be a fix coming soon per Mustangchief's recent post.

What post?

The F-150 guys have been making complaints to the NHTSA via the following link;

https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/

They have shown via FLIR images how hot the back of the seats are getting. It's even damaged the rear seat back on one person's truck.

Might not be a bad idea for us to do the same.

Hi, Deysha. Thank you for being involved. I'll be making an appointment at Yocum Ford for "diagnosis" next week, and will PM you my info to keep you in the loop.
As for those of you sweating your backs off in silent outrage, get to your dealer and verify the issue ASAP before someone can make an end run around the issue by changing the name of the option. ...
You’re welcome, Sc00ter! Thanks for the kind words.

Hey Deysha,

I sent you an appointment info with everything i needed.. however...

the only thing they were able to fix was the USB port...

NO GO on the cooled seats guys, they said there is NO fix....

needless to say, I'm not exactly thrilled about this

I read thru EVERY post in this thread today, getting more and more angry along the way.
I thought I was imagining this problem last week and my wife mentioned something about it this week. It's definitely a problem.
I cannot believe the level of engineering that's taken place by folks on this forum, but nothing from Ford yet. To the guys coming up with new innovation ahead of Ford themeselves...BRAVO!! This is one of Ford's bread and butter vehicles and I don't know if it was rushed to market, or what...but it's been a disappointment with a list of problems I have been putting together to make one big dealer visit.
We're going to have a problem at the dealer if they ignore what I tell them. The regional CSM is useless as I have dealt with them on my previous car (Focus) before. The calls that are never returned and the calls at 5pm (so that they will not answer when you call back) are ridiculous. It's a vicious cycle. Calling the Customer Service Center allows you to vent but you cannot escalate real time to a live person.
I will go ahead and add this problem to the list and take it in at some point over the next week to at least document. I am not holding my breath that anyone is actually looking at a fix for this yet. I think the better tactic is to ride around without a shirt, develop a burn and blisters and then head over to the local news channel and tell them what just happened. As bad as it sounds, this may be a viable option.
Once we get into the winter months, this will go away and the dealer will think you're nuts for following up on this.
Will keep monitoring this in the meantime to see what develops. Will let you know what comes of my experience when I take it in.

"I8ACHEVY": I mentioned on an early submission on this thread...that I suspect Ford will not do anything until the 'cooled' seat actually burns someone with enough injury to generate a medical report...or when the seat catches on fire. I would hate to be in that vehicle when the seat begins to smoke while driving down a Freeway.
