I read somewhere, the top speed is 180mph.
If so the chart is off a little.
As for top speed, we will likely have to wait for official numbers.
180mph is the official top speed, reached in 5th gear.

The charts show the gearing is tame for 0-60, just like I said earlier. First gear isn't set up for fast acceleration from a stop. If you are in a GT350 and there's a GT PP with good tires launching next to you, don't be surprised if you are playing catch up.

Also, this shows that performance driving near the redline on the streets will be limited to first gear. Once you shift out of first you're basically at the speed limit. Yuck!

Edit: nice charts. Thanks!

I don't understand where your confusion is coming from. 3.35 1st gear vs 3.66 first isn't that big a difference, especially considering the Voodoo's broader torque curve. Couple that with the GT350's obvious tire grip advantage the GT/PP has no chance in any race.

It seems like the bulk of your disappointment is that you won't be able to shift a bunch of times at redline while still going slowly.

Man, the more I read your posts the more I read horsepoopshitcrapdungdookey. You are way past your intellect on this post.

The car isn't even out yet... No media proof of speed... And yet you have output numbers, a better tire than a GT/PP, a better suspension and yet you think a GT/PP will out skedaddle a 350?! Buhahahhahahahahahhaha!!!

Based on your previous posts, I'm not surprised that you didn't understand what I said. . . or that you mis-"quoted" me. :tsk:

You might wanna read post #76 too.. .just saying.

So, I guess Multimatic better watch out for the Ricky Bobby GT/PP next race weekend? Right? Smh...

Not really confused. Extra RPM provides the option of steeper gearing which increases torque multiplication and provides a quicker launch as well as less wear and tear on drivetrain components, especially the clutch. The Voodoo doesn't make that much more torque than the Coyote. Gearing can help you.

I would like to shift from first to second closer to 35-40 than 50 something, yes. You're completely mischaracterizing what I'm saying to ridicule it. Fine with me, but it doesn't make you right.

I am buying a manual transmission because I like shifting. Maybe you enjoy nailing it in first, holding it in that gear for a relatively long time, then shifting straight to 6th. Secretly you would rather have an automatic so instead of shifting once you could not shift at all. I would rather get better acceleration in first, a quick blast in second, THEN shift to 6th.

Thanks for the advice.

So Multimatic is going to be running 0-40 stoplight drags next weekend?

5000 RPM is smack in the meat of the torque curve. BUT, regardless, I'm not planning on hitting 180 anytime soon. Howwver a blast around the Milwaukee Mile isn't out of the question to test how strongly the speed devil b-sack is with yours truly.

Top speed requires HP (Torque x RPM)/5252 ... so at 5000 RPM in 6th gear there may not be enough RWHP to go much past 180 MPH. The car has the capability (HP wise) to go near 200 MPH, but it would take perfectly matched gearing to do so.

Yeah I know, it's got the power I would think even at the mid RPM. I wouldn't imagine much more room after though. But then again why are we, including myself, debating a gear that will basically have no use for us in the first place in any racing scenario? Unless someone is really wanting to do top speed runs and wants to the dial to 11. I'll never see 180+.

Edit: actually Pony, you have a point. I always forget that these single OD transmissions don't translate over like a lot of top speed runs do with stuff like Vettes and such were 6th actually CAN be usable in top speed runs because of the LS platform's powerband.

A moment of silence for my automotive IQ. May you rest in peace.
Seriously.

6th gear is so tall, it may lose speed when shifted into 6th and you get a 3000 drop in RPM ... depending on how much HP is developed at 5000 RPM.

I've experienced this first hand running my 3.73-geared 2011 GT at the Texas Mile. Hit 154mph in 5th gear then shifted to 6th and actually slowed to 151mph at the finish. 2nd run I just held 5th gear and crossed the line at 154mph.

And all this time I thought you hit 164...

Top speed in stock vettes is also typically in 5th. They are geared even taller than the mustang.
