You sure about that? Mine lowered my head temps by about 25 degrees with the proper tune.
I got the same one the OP posted about from Lethal Performance.

I think he meant does nothing for performance. Probably makes the engine less likely to experience detonation, but back to back on a dyno I doubt you'd see any improvement in performance.

I agree you may not gain power but you gain reliability when pushing the envelope. It was a stupid comment either way. Top tuners and engine builders in the Country recommend lower temp thermostats for a reason.

Maybe some but not all. Personally I don't think it's worth the time to do it. My 2011 GT ran better at the track when it was warmer. The second pass was always faster than the first one when going back to back.

Livernois works with ford and Lund is a top tuner. It took me 15 min to do the t stat change lol. Don't knock it till you try it.

If it helps prevent pre-detonation/knock by reducing cylinder head temps/comb. chamber temps.... then it will help performance. I am sure Livernoise or someone has tested this and probably found that when the cylinder head temps are lower and they have good fuel, they can add more timing in than say a stocker with higher temps.

I can imagine this would especially be beneficial to someone where summers are scorchers like AZ or how its getting here in TX right now....triple digits.

Hell, I am surprised they even need spark plugs in AZ right now....I think I read 118? Motor probably fires itself. lol :lol::lol::lol::headbonk:

Maybe ask him. I asked why my fans run all the time and he told me he recommends 170 stat for his tune and writes them that way.

If you have a Lund tune on your 15 and the fans are always on then its because the tune is set for the lower t-stat. I cant speak for 11-14, but thats the way it is for the 15s unless he revised it.

Anyone drill out the holes on the grill to allow more air to flow into the intake and engine bay. I would imagine the would also cool down the AIT and engine temps. Haven't done it yet but I was thinking about it. What do you guys think?

Anybody running these lower t-stats with a whipple or procharger? Do they include these in the kits? Would make sense since you are adding a large intercooler in front of the radiorator.

I get emails all the time from customer when the cars are first tuned about the fans being on more, that's because lund always recommends them on at lower temps, and really likes the lower temp thermostats with it

we usually recommend them out of the gate with just a tune, cai package or with the power adder packages

Its shiny and new so people must have it if they're told they need it! If your tune is so aggressive you need a lower cylinder head temp to combat detonation, find a new tuner.

We recommend our 160° thermostat for anyone looking for added performance from these cars, especially when tuned. They heat soak quite a bit due to how compacted everything is under the hood, so a cooler thermostat helps the engine stay in it's optimal operating range for a larger percentage of the time.
