So, I am officially a pain in the neck. My wife says she knew it long before I did.

I am trying to find the right balance of shifter performance and NVH. Mostly N and V.

I tried the Steeda shifter base and bushing and the transmission mount bushing. Both added too much noise to the cabin. They both worked very very well, but they are not for me. I installed and removed each of them twice and now I am right back where I started with the shifter - blah.

I resolving to the fact I am just hyper-aware when it comes to noises and vibrations. What one person is OK with, I am not happy with. Falls right in line with the touch of OCD and other fun quirks that make me who I am.

Here is the question:

Given what I just wrote, does it even make sense to try to install an MGW or Barton shifter? Or I have a somewhat similar experience and end up putting the stock shifter back.

Perhaps I am the guy they made the shifter for? Knowing if they tightened it up, people like me would not be happy with the cabin noise and vibration.

Thank you in advance...

OK, let me have it - good, bad....I can take it.

I would try and insulate around the shifter better and see if you can deal with it. If you just can't stand it, you'll have to deal with the sloppy stocker.

I'm right there with you about the NVH from the mount and bushing. Loved the feel couldn't stand the increased NVH. Removed them both.
I have driven full out race cars, SCCA, GT class etc...but for my STREET daily drivers I don't want too harsh and noisey of a ride.
I'm also thinking about the MGW shifter. It doesn't mount to the body at all, from the videos I've seen. They also include Dynamat. A friend ordered the MGW shifter Friday, as soon as its in we will be doing the install and I'll be able to see and feel the difference first hand. I'll report back if you like.

I have Barton's shifter......it doesn't have any more nvh than stock, possibly less. It would be worth a try.

The Barton mounts to the body is the reason I'm thinking MGW. Without mounting to the body there is less chance of transferring NV. I do like the fact Barton offers a 30 day no risk warranty. How's the feel compared to stock?

Thank you very much. I really appreciate it. I hope the install goes well and he likes the shifter

Thanks much. Seems like that is the consensus from the folks who have installed the Barton.

Shifter is awesome......quick shifts, no missing gears, and very little effort to shift.

I have done the trans bushing and can recommend you cut a hole in the middle section. It should get rid of 90% of the nvh.

I tried something similar. I cut the middle out of it. Better, but still did not like it. I agree with your assessment of the 90% reduction though.

I am a pain in the ass.

If your concerned with noises (or adding noises) its probably not worth getting either.

That is where my head is at on this right now.

Thanks for the honesty
