GT350 + ADM versus...

In another thread someone stated that with a $10k or $20k ADM, there are a lot better cars than the GT350.

I've looked at Porsche and BMW and I'm not so sure. I also have read about the Corvette, but I'm a little leery of the LT1 blowing up on me 10 minutes after the warranty expires. I think the majority of people will buy a GT350 with a $7,500 adder (tech package), so the finished MSRP will be close to $60k.

So, with $10k that makes it $70k. What car would you prefer to buy or is better than the GT350 as a tracker/daily driver for around $70k?

If you want to discuss $80k options as well that's cool, but I think it will be very limited the number of people willing to pay $20k over. I personally don't think I would pay even $10k over, but I don't have to make that decision yet.

I like the new GT350 and if I were racing I would certainly consider one for the track...but not as a daily driver. Why not? For $70k I would probably look for a larger sailboat. At these elevated prices it is not just other cars/trucks that are competing with it but other big ticket items.

Also, it all depends on how each individual wants to use it. Pulling up at the Country Club or the Yacht Club it is doubtful anyone will know this as anything other than a Mustang so there will not be much glamour points for this car. A Corvette, Jaguar, BMW....etc. is more recognizable as a limited vehicle. But everyone will have a different usage in mind so all this is just highly personal and subjective.

All about what you consider to be "special" and "worth it". For $70k I think I'd rather a well optioned C7 if I didn't need the back seat. I mean, a base Z06 is $80k - a GT350 isn't competing with one on any road.

Well, there is a short limited run of 137 GT350s...

If you want/need to be a part of that crowd, go ahead and anti up ADM. Everyone else can wait a few months, for when they start making 2k of them.

I have a feeling that the production numbers will be pretty much in line with the s197 boss 302. The 2015 model will be rare and collectible, but the 2016 will be somewhat common like the boss 302.

I saw plenty of bosses go at or below msrp.

If you don't want to pay the adm just wait. I plan on waiting until December 2016. Both to save money and to let the hype slow down. I might even get a used gt350 if the price is right.

I think the C7 Corvette wins hands down at 65K+. You can get them somewhat discounted and they will make a better daily driver if for no other reason than they can get 30mpg. I expect it will be more comfortable, too, but we don't know that, yet. To top it off, the Corvette has modern car things like a good Head Up Display and the rockin' Performance Data Recorder. Chevy does have QA problems though, be warned.

Another option at about 70K is next year's Mercedes C63 AMG coupe. This car will offer everything but runs 70-80K depending on options. It exceeds the M4 imo, and still has a V8 (the M4 is an epic fail imo).

A 3rd option in the 70-80K range is the new (damn, I hate to say it...) Cadillac ATS-V Coupe, basically a Corvette with a little more luxury and bit less performance. But the Corvette is already a better deal.

Below 80K, I've come to think the C7 Corvette is the best deal.

I love this GT350 for it's engine - this is where it wins big. A V8 with an 8250 redline is a marvelous wonder. I'd love to have the chance to rev that everyday. But much above 60K or a lack of availability makes the C7 an alternative to consider.

So the thing about the M4 is I believe it starts at $65k and it has 100 less HP than the GT350. It weighs around 3600 lbs, so that should compare favorably to the Ford. With forced induction on a 6, the powerplant will not sound as good on the BMW, but I would bet the interior comfort and fit and finish are better. I think the BMW is better looking. I have some German ancestry, so I'll admit to have a weakness favoring German engineering.

So, if you compare GT350 with the tech package and a $10k adm at about $68K the GT350 will cost more. And it's a Mustang. Oh, and my boss owns a couple BMWs, so I might get a little suck up benefit if I bought one.

SO... my conclusion from this is I owe it to myself to at least drive a BMW M4 before entering negotiations to buy the GT350.

It's power is known to be understated in the m4. wont beat the 350 on a track though, not a chance.

Most definitely C7 Vette. If a GT350 comes anywhere within 5-7k of a C7.. C7 it is. Hands down.

The 1M and up-and-coming M2 is where BMW is at. It is more directly competing with the Mustang, than the M4. I will be cross shopping the M2 and GT350 in 2017/18.

They will both be within a few thousand of each other. Both street/track cars and focused.

Why so bitter. Did an M3/M4 bite you in the ass recently?

So much hatred for the M3/M4...for me personally I'd just add a GT350 along side the M4, but wouldn't consider the 1M or an M2 since they're both hideously ugly.

For the price of the Gt350 + the tech pack...I would go for the corvette hands down. I'm not the type that races or takes them to the track, so thats my reasoning.
