Finally got around to waxing.
Might be a metal flake thing, but after the wax job the paint really popped like it never had before.
For what it is worth.
I never "Clayed" a car before till I got the Stang. It really brought out a lot of contaminants, even though it was a new car. Then I waxed. Wow, what a difference. Car felt smooth as glass. If you didn't clay it first. I would suggest you do. It is really a simple procedure.

Interesting, according to what is written here about the 'baggy test' http://www.detailedimage.com/Ask-a-Pro/do-you-recommend-using-a-clay-bar-on-a-brand-new-car/ clay would have been a good idea (disclaimer, the person writing the article probably also sells the clay stuff), you still get that smooth as glass feel after a coat of synthetic (or probably any good wax) but there was no indication that I was removing any more crud than was removed after hand washing.

I did not let my dealer wash the new Mustang. When I picked up my convertible, I spray washed it down, then used Iron-X, followed by another wash. I tried an experiment suggested by another Forum member. I gently wiped a baggy over the surface...I could feel the surface contaminants. After that, I clay-barred it. Looking at the clay bar you could see micro-flecks of contaminant, and the baggy just slid smoothly over the clean surface. I plan to clay bar the car every few months. Takes less than 1/2 hour to do the convertible!

try clay baring, apply a polish, then a fully synthetic wax. I do this process every 3-4 months to my DIBlue car. Takes some time but dammit it looks good, is smooth as glass and afterwards.
