No, unfortunately the Magnaflow tips were a bit more expensive. I bought Pypes 4" tip part number EVT52. They are $50 for the pair.

Not a problem! Anything I can do to help a fellow S550 owner! I encourage people to try the Borla Muffler I linked below. This was the muffler I originally was going to go with. It should fit perfect like the magnaflow.

Thanks a lot for doing this, it's exactly what I want to do. I already have a resonator delete H-pipe and instead of spending a bunch of money on an axleback I just want to weld in some mufflers and tips.

Why didn't you go with the Borla mufflers and why do you recommend them? I want something that is relatively quiet when cruising and sounds good and deep when under throttle without being raspy so I'm not sure which muffler to get. I was also thinking about going with dual tips and swapping the valence out for a more custom look. What are the specs on the tips you got so I know about what size I need to get? Thanks!

The borla mufflers are very close in design to the magnaflow I got. I have always used Magnaflow mufflers, I was just curious about something a little different. Not sure how much different the sound would be but the magnaflow is a real deep tone that produces very little drone. It compliments the engine sound and my intake very well. I feel as if the Borla would do the same. I didn't go with the Borla because they are out of stock.

The tips I went with are 4" outlet, 2.5" inlet, rolled tip. Length I believe was 6" from end to end, however, I removed 2" to get it to fit correctly. I don't remember exactly how long it was before I shortened them, but I can measure them now. I do know I removed 2" from the length. I'll check this afternoon and post up my findings.

Kris,
I can't go look, (car is not here). Can you put the 4 inch pypes tips on the stock exhaust? Thanks

Yea, you should be able to. Since I chose a muffler that was very close to the stock in/ out locations, the tip should work just the same. Will probably have to shorten as I did as well.

Kris,
you are quick with the responses. Thank you for that and for this fantastic write up. At only 87.00 a piece, it is almost better to just buy the magna flows than stock. This is going to be a tough decision. I will be doing headers in the future so I am not wanting something too loud. how much change would you say there was in the loudness?

No problem at all! Yea, that was my thinking. I wanted something that would give the car a more aggressive sound without being too loud for one day I will also have long tubes and it should be a "perfect" setup for volume and sound quality. Even retaining the stock tips are an option and a little cheaper. But 4" tips just add such a nice look to the exhaust cutouts and for $50, its hard to pass up since you are already doing the work to begin with.

Quick update to say thanks! Got the Magnaflows installed yesterday along with my resonator delete. I went with some Borla tips that another member recommended. Turned out perfect IMO.

Love it. Exactly what I was looking for. A little deeper and louder than stock and no drone.
