If it is anything like any of the other models I would think it would just it just to less power to compensate for the lower octane fuel?

I don't mind the less power. The nearest station to get 93 is 20 minutes away. Thanks for the info!!! :headbang:

When I run 91 in my stock boss 302 I can literally hear it pinging.

Don't quote me on that, it is just a guess. I have not been following the 350 that closely as I did not plan on purchasing it. Does anyone know what the manual says? is the manual even available yet?

It will have to as I'm willing to bet California will be one of the states with the largest volume sold and 93 is not available there. 91 is "premium" grade in a lot of states. In NY we have 87-89-93. Some sell 91 as well as 93 from the same pump.

If the car will be sold in California it will run on 91 octane. Many newer cars have ways to compensate timing for octane variation. My 335i has sensitive knock sensors that can back off timing if the octane is too low.

Of course the car will run on 91. However there is no guarantee that you will get max power on 91 as the official SAE hp numbers are usually done on 93 for high performance cars.

For example the Nissan GT-R horsepower is rated on 93 and loses hp when run on anything less.

You don’t want to know
Ford wouldn't dare sell a mass-market vehicle that doesn't make full power on 91 octane.

Not concerned about the loss of HP for daily use. Just making sure that when the car comes in I can fill it up locally. Thanks for the info.

I bet dealers fill up the cars with 87 octane. It will run on 91 octane no problem just probably won't be optimal. I bet at the higher end of the tach on 91 octane it starts pulling timing and you will see the dyno plot get jagged up top. My E92 M3 did the same thing...

I blend 4 gallons of VP101 and it gets me to just over 93 octane. Not to mention the smell of it is wonderful.

The coyote can run on 87 with a 1% power loss or something like that. With that being said, I am guessing the rating is on 93..with a a 1-2% loss if running on 91.

Only time it will really matter is at the track, in which case you can mix in race gas.

Here's an Octane result from blending 2 fuels calculator you can use to figure out how to blend various gasoline grades to get 93 octane. For example, it takes 1.7 gallons of E85 to raise unleaded premium (<1% ethanol in my area) rated at 91 octane to 93 octane.
