Nice! I traded in a Fiesta SE sedan for my GT. I just purchased a used Fiesta ST as my daily. What a fun car!

You are right. The only thing missing from your calculation is money difference recovered at the time of resale. The reason I mention that is in truth, basically maybe 1 out of 100 keep their hotrod more than 8 to 10 years. The 4 or 6 cyl. isn't worth near as much at that point. If you don't believe me, look at the difference in value of a base '69 mustang, and a '69 428SCJ Mach1. I don't have anything at all against either of those engines, and if that's what you want, by all means go for it! I'm just saying when you look at TOTAL cost of ownership, the GT is the best deal- over the course of the entire time you own it- including when you trade it. One of the guys I went to school with got a new '71 AMX when he got his drivers license. I ran into him a couple years ago @ our 35 reunion and I asked what ever happened to that car- he said it was at home in the garage! His wife said she was :"gonna bury him in that POS". That's rare!
I tried to bring this up before and got flamed hard, if you look at 2011 GT and V6 bluebooks, there will be about a $5000~ difference in value for both cars if both are configured with the same options, condition and such. That about covers the price difference, I would assume there would be a similar gap with the Eco and GT in most cases. The insurance thing is also a bit overblown, it will be different for everyone but I am betting the difference between the V6, Eco and GT is very small in most cases.

Insurance is quite the difference actually. Young drivers (like me) get it hard with the v8. I'm paying 100$ more than I was paying for my v6. Also to mention I have a killer rate with a perfect driving record.

I guess I'm glad I'm old. $168 per 6 months with high coverages.

I just swapped from a 2012 v6 to a 2015 GT and my insurance didn't change one cent. Literally stayed the same. I think the insurance is true for some, but many that I've heard heard about have had a very small increase to their premium.

Granted it stayed at $305...that's Canadian rates and being under 25.

My insurance is only going up 78 dollars over 6 months. Like I said I loved the EB just missed the Coyote and the automatic. I figure you only go around the rock once so I might as well enjoy it while I can.

AMWill right now my plans are to leave it stock other than exhaust. I purchased the FRPP kit from you guts for my 14GT and could not have been happier with the service you guys provided me. You will hear from me soon and thanks for the compliment.

From the 14 V6 mine went up $72 every six months, I think in total I pay $700~ (I am still young too :D). $100 more a month though is quite a bit, but $10 or so is not very much.

We pay $700/year for the 'tang, my F150, and our house(all bundled with USAA). I think it's a pretty good deal.

When I was 21 I went from a 2006 Impala LTZ to a 2011 Mustang GT. My insurance went down a few bucks a month. Lot more factors than just the number of cylinders in the motor.

How long did you have your EB before you traded in? How many miles did you put on it?

And how much of a "hit" did you take?

I'm curious because I may wind up doing this in a year or two.

Insurance difference depends on age. Young drivers WILL take a huge hit. My little brother, who is 11 years younger, explored the option. He couldn't buy a Mustang with ANY of the motors. They wanted an extra $1200 every 6 months just to have a Mustang of any kind! But he's 23 and has a couple tickets.

At may age, though, the difference between them is negligible. It was only $39 different every 6 months.

I have the EB 4 months exactly
I have 4600 miles on the pumpkin when I traded her in.
I took about a 1500 dollar hit but I got a D-plan on the car so it would have been closer to 3K.

I hope that helps.
