I am still very confused...

Since I can not find definitive information about traction control (one button push) advance trac off (hold button for five seconds) and advance trac sport (double click button) in any ford written manual when it comes to the base GT PP... can folks give me proper info of each on/off please????

For the benefit of all here on the forums.

Thanks... I have read that before, but its less than stellar in its explanation of the systems and effects on driving/handling.

Maybe I am just not getting the difference in some of those systems on/off.

The sport mode for the traction control probably just allows more slip than normal mode, but not completely off. Not sure on the stability control, might let the car go out to a wider angle before the systems cut in to help regain control of the car.

Indeed... I am not sure. The manual says how each activation is accomplished... it isnt very specific on what each activation, or deactivation, specifically does.

I would also like some information about this as not knowing the other day and went to the track it killed my times. I didn't even know about advance trac. Now your telling me there is a sport. Maybe I should read the owners manual.:headbonk:

That is the thing... the manual isnt very specific about what each does, and more importantly how each affect one another... it merely states how to turn them on and off.

I don't know what sport does, but I do know what track mode does.

It allows a pretty steep angle, like a lot of opposite lock - then it kicks in HARD.
It's the most dangerous driving mode there is.

On normal, it kicks in at the right time and it just works.

Track mode is an accident waiting to happen.

I don't believe there is an advance trac sport mode on the base model. I have the same car as you, and i toggle with those settings often. I have never seen it. Maybe I'M doing something wrong? Lol. I do know, however, that advance trac off, disables the traction and stability. Which, is my fav mode to drive in. :)

Guys that have the base i know they dont have the toggles switches, but dont u have a track control button or switch,if so im sure that has something to do with turning off the advance trac. The cars runs and feels totally different with advance trac off.

Yes it does feel different, which is why i always drive with advance trac OFF.

Now that i think about it, i believe you're right. It is better to just turn everything off, in my opinion. The car feels more free.

I have a base model PP, here's how mine works:

Traction control (controls wheelspin) and stability control (cuts throttle AND brakes individual wheels to control yaw) both default to on.

If you tap the button, it turns off TC only. Meaning, you can spin the tires in a straight line, but start getting sideways and the computer kicks in to straighten you out.

If you "double-tap" the button, both system remain on, but they give you more wheelspin/more yaw to play with before the systems kick in.

If you press and hold the button for 5+ seconds, everything turns off. This means donuts.

Easy enough?

Can anyone else confirm this?

Those explanations were very clear.

Yes, I have a base GT PP and I can confirm what ecolulz said.
Default = AdvancTrac on (Traction Control on + Stability Control on).
Single tap = "Traction Control Off"
Double Tap = "AdvancTrac Sport Mode"
Press & hold = "AdvancTrac off"

Just single tap it once at any non-Default setting to go back to the Default.

It's a little goofy and confusing, but it works. I'll have to admit, the Premium toggle switches would be a little easier to digest.
