Amid all the lingering wild speculation of what the competition is for the Mustang in the form of the new Chevy Camaro, there are actual informative reports going on. If you don't care, well that's fine, but if you are an admirer of design and engineering like me then there are some interesting things about the new car from Chevy.

I am sure there will be more to come as the year progresses towards launch in the Fall.

Over on Camaro6 one of their members posted a line drawing overlay of Gen 5 and Gen 6 and it made the new Camaro look really slick...

Unfortunately it doesn't translate into real life as well

So its design language was inspired by aircraft huh according to the chief designer.

How about that hood then, a commercial airline toilet seat?

Is the exhaust note for the 6 the final one? I like it. Im not one for V6 exhaust notes, but it sounds good. Then again recordings to me never sound like the real thing.

Overall I like the new Camaro. Not really shopping for one, but I cant say I dont like it.

Thanks for sharing OP.

Concerning the interior, I don't especially like the long linear row of buttons under the infotainment screen. The buttons seem unusably small and poorly positioned, at least in pictures and videos.

But the real takeaway for me was Chevy’s confidence in its prototypes. I expected these cars to be pretty rough still. If this is where GM is at with the car that won't be released until the fall, the Mustang team over in Dearborn has got something to be worried about.

Was an interesting read from HotRod. Makes me think that Ford is going to have to up their game.

I think Ford really dropped the ball with not offering the V6 up as the mid trim and doing more with it. I know they love their EB engines but they should have done more with the V6 and not send it to the junk heap.

Chevy is going to take the mid range sales for sure from Mustang. With that good of a sounding V6 (and it sounds GOOD), along with the cylinder deactivation and premium trim/options...Ford is going to lose a bunch of sales.

I'm not sure the casual customer will have a clue this is a new generation. As pill said, when's the transformer car getting a refresh?

I agree with you. But out of curiosity, do you think the casual customer recognizes the Mustang's new design?
