Never, I hope. I like having engine choices. If Ford wants to add an Ecoboost V6 to the mix, great, but don't take away the other options please.

Realistically? 5 years or less. They lineup will likely to go a 2.7 Ecoboost making 325-335hp right now in other cars. The V6 offers few advantages over an Ecoboost these days.

The V8 naturally aspirated will stay and option since it's a muscle car, and the halo car or option in a GT will be the 3.5L twin turbo Ecoboost V6 making 500-600hp; as seen replacing the big V8s in the Raptor (450-500hp) and 2017 Ford GT (600+hp)

Read this out loud.

I agree with this.

Corrected. I had written something else and forgot to delete "bigger displacement." I was going to say they would go to 2 displacement Ecoboosts, 2.3 and 2.7, but then read the 2.7 doesn't make a ton more HP so that is unlikely to keep both in the same car.

CAFE starts to kick in in 2017. I'd expect major engine and transmission revisions industry wide

Like others have said, MY18 I think the 3.7 will be gone and replaced with the 2.7l. I don't think we will ever see a small displacement EB V8. It just would not offer enough over the current EB V6's to merit the R&D cost.

Hell I'd take a V8 ecoboost right now if they offered it.

4.0 to 5.0 liters, twin turbo 550-650 HP, sign me up. :)

I can't see the V8 going away, I can see the 3.5 being the top engine in a specialty mustang. I really fear we'll end up with another 1977 type mustang.
God that's a world I don't want to live in.
