I know many of you have owned many Mustangs...my S550 is my first Mustang. I was in California today and my rental was a three year old previous gen Mustang. I am absolutely blown away by how much better the current gen is than the older ones. I know this topic has been discussed many times before, but now that I experienced it first hand I was blown away. Makes what ford did remarkable.

Indeed, after I test drove a 15 I didn't want to get back into my 14 :D

I don't think too many people on here owned a last gen car it seems, it makes me appreciate this new gen even more.

Owned a 2009 Mustang 45th Anniversary edition before I parted ways with it...no comparison, the 6th generation Mustang is leaps and bounds forward compared to earlier models.:ford:

Owning an S197 it's still a great car, but the second I got in, and then drove, the S550 it became readily apparent how much better a car the S550 is overall. Interior quality, IRS, and coyote make it worlds better than mine. And it took me awhile but I finally came around on the styling a few months back after I saw more of them up close on dealer lots.

Ford hit it out of the park with this one.

Yeah it took me a bit to warm up to the new styling as well, the pictures just don't do it justice and I was quick to judge. The S197 are still nice cars but the changes are so amazing. The color choices though for 2015 are a bit underwhelming though, I really wanted a GHIG car bad. I am thinking about doing a super detailed review between the S550 and S197.

I agree about the colors being a little inadequate: would have loved a grabber blue, and a deeper red. Only real flaw I've seen so far in comparison to the S197.

Yeah the s550 is way beyond the s197. A short drive in a '15 PP GT pretty much made my '08 GT seem kind of dated.

GB would look so amazing on the S550. I kind of got bored my GB car though, I wouldn't have gotten it again compared to CO, I guess I just like bright and flashy colors.

This car feels light years better than my 2007 and I had upgraded all the suspension with full bolt ons. Cams as well.

IMO this speaks volumes to the S550 because I thought the previous model was excellent. i had a lot of seat time in a V6 and loved it. I did think it was a tad sloppy when pushed, but at the time it was a V6 'vert, both heavier and softer than a coupe. Having a droptop with RWD and 300hp was priceless. Driving a '14 coupe with the track pack was a night and day improvement in dynamics, and I almost picked up a loaded black one instead of putting an order for the S550. Good thing I didnt :)

thehunterooo shoutout to your whip, the 'vert I drove around for a week was that color and EVERYONE who saw it loved it. One of my buddies still talks about that color till this day. And it was in FL too haha

The IRS truly is an achievement in ride comfort and rode manners. I used to like how my 2013 GT vert carried me down the road, but this next iteration Mustang is head-and-shoulders better. The new car glides over road bumbs and tracks truer over road rills and expansion joint seams. Car just seems more solidly glued to the roadway.

That would be cool...........although I'm surprised I've not seen a decent S550 v S197 review online yet!

I love my '05 GT, but I was blown away when I first tried a '10 GT and then and '11 with the Coyote. For me, the fit and finish was so much better (inside) and it rode, steered and handled much more smoothly.

I've only had a chance to sit in an S550, but already that seems a big leap over the '14 in terms of quality, and I really can't wait to drive one!
