If that is the case then your comparison to the GT500 is incorrect. Which is exactly what I was getting at. The stripes on the GT500 are applied after clearing the base paint. They are not under a clearcoat. I removed them with a blowdryer and my bare hands. This was on a 2014.

Ford must have changed their methods for MY2015. I guess for those on the fence about stripes you better choose wisely as they will be impossible to remove post manufacture without serious paint work. Are you sure this is the case?

Ford WILL NOT be clear coating over the stripes.
They may have on show cars....but that is a different story.
Stripes will be added POST build in a different shop at the factory (name slips my tongue so to speak at the moment) well after the car has been painted, cleared and put together. They use that facility (aka mod shop) to ADD parts on special editions that cannot be done on the normal production line that take time and handwork...like GT500 and Boss 302 stripes etc.

I also would be very surprised to see them clear coat over vinyl stripes. That would sound like a bubbling clear coat disaster waiting to happen, IMO.

It's called sarcasm. You misunderstood my original post.

BINGO! Ford (maybe from day 1) during the GT500 program has CLEAR COATED stripes. They clear coasted the stripes BEFORE being putting on the car. Allowed the stripes to pop in terms of shine to match the body. A general google search will verify the clear coating of stripe material PRIOR to use/install. Actually the stripe material is "cleared" during its manufacturing process.
