Ok finally got some good weather to get the car out! I still couldn't figure out how to do the procedure for re-learning idle. It's not in my owner's manual...found a procedure in the online manual but it was clearly geared toward an Auto car.

Anyway, I drove the past couple of days with the latest Lund tune (had an update sent to me a couple of weeks ago), and still had idle hanging...seems to be getting worse too. It'll hang at 2k and gradually go down to 1.5k, then 1k, then abruptly go to normal idle. It'll hang for a good 5+ seconds each time I let off the gas and/or push in the clutch. This is both coming to a stop (gliding with clutch in) or at a complete stop as well.

It was getting VERY annoying, and embarrassing....so I figured I'd try and rule out the tune and took off the Lund tune and put in the SCT canned tune (since they have the JLT intake option). I did that this morning and my drive to work was utter bliss! No hanging at all!! Hoping it stays that way. If it is still good tomorrow I will e-mail Lund and tell them they need to figure it out...I kind of thought him saying the tune wouldn't cause idle hanging sounds like BS.....I paid extra to get tunes from them over using the canned SCT tunes, so they better get it figured out!

Lund is one of the top tuners around, regardless of coast. Did you buy it from Terry aka Beefcake or another forum vendor? I would let them know about the issues and the canned SCT tune is not behaving the same way as the Lund tune.

Best of luck getting it fixed.

Yeah I bought from Terry. He just had me submit a ticket with Lund. They are very fast to respond and help out! I will give it another day to make sure it is definitely gone with the SCT tune then I'll give John some crap :D Just glad I have a back-up, because it was annoying enough that I would have parked the car if I didn't have the SCT tune to fall back on.

Update....still hanging some. Went back to stock intake with Lund tune...still hangs...now I'm back to factory tune. Drove today and seems like it still hangs slightly....time will tell. It has this tendency to get worse over time after re-learn. Last part I have on the motor is the JLT oil separator. I'll swap that out next, and if it still hangs it is going to the dealer to see if they can figure it out.

I cant say that I'm not surprised to see another Lund tune that is having the hanging RPM problem. There is a guy over on SVT forums that has the same problem and has been going round and round with Lund about it and Lund just seems to blow him off. I have the same problem but I don't have a Lund tune. My rpm's only hang while shifting. I am told its the torque management and the problem hasn't been figured out yet. Its nothing to do with your bolt on mods, its your tune. My car has never done it with stock tune and neither has anyone else's that I have read about that have this problem.. just with the aftermarket tunes. So far I hear Lund tunes and I know my LET tune does it.

Interesting...I just went over to stock tune yesterday, so I'm on day 2 of driving with stock tune and it still hangs some. I will try and get a video of it. I especially notice it if I let it rev higher than 3k in say, 3rd or 4th gear, then let off throttle with clutch in, like I'm slowing down to a stop light or something. It will hang for a second at 3k, then bolt down to ~1.5k or so and hang for a half second, then go down to normal idle. It isn't terrible right now, but as I mentioned it seems to get worse over time. I will keep an eye on it. Also, before I removed the JLT intake, I had tried the SCT canned tune and it had the same issue.

Lund gave me an updated tune that had some changes related to torque management, so I thought they had figured that issue out. It seemed to help some, but still would hang some, just enough to be annoying! :frusty:

Since I don't hear about EVERY S550 5.0 manual doing it, I wonder if its certain strategy coded cars? One person I had talked to thought it was just the premium cars and related to the driving modes but then when I posted about my car (base PP car) he didn't think that anymore lol

Yeah I can't find a lot of people with the issue. Lund has been trying to help me out but they too keep telling me it isn't the tune, and they haven't seen this issue on any other S550s. I thought maybe it was my elevation (6,000-7,000 ft) since that's a variable most people don't have? I'm hoping I just have a bad TB or MAF or something like that that the dealer can figure out and fix.

good luck having Ford replace that .. they will just tell you its "within spec" and you cant bring it in there with a tune on it (when its more noticeable than stock) and then think they will fix it right up lol. .they will just tell you its because you put a tune on your car I'm sure, but hey I wish you luck! lol

Yeah i won't bring it in with the tune for sure...that's why I started putting it back to stock to narrow down the issue and then if it still hangs it is going to the dealer in stock condition. Yeah, I hate dealing with issues like this....I will be adamant about it and take the service adviser on test drive to show them...hopefully they will do something!

FPGM0KT

I had issues from the start with the SCT. I had to have SCT send me a file to "unlock" my strategy or something like that, before it would let me load the Lund tunes.
