I'm also in Houston and plan on checking out Mustangs soon also. I live right next to Planet Ford but it seems like Autonation Katy gets the most recommendations from Mustang shoppers. Let us know how it goes this weekend.

I picked up my Oxford White GT w/ Performance Pack in Manual Trans for $30,200. Of course it was a little more after taxes, tags, etc. Actual window sticker was $35,600 though so I think I got a hell of a deal.
Wow! 5K off of sticker is a great deal!

I'll be sure and update here! I am so excited about it that I almost wanted to call in from work and go today instead! My wife wouldn't have minded, but the thought of missing a days pay to go look at a car is idiotic

Anyways, I'm honestly hoping that I will be happy enough with a base GT. Hopefully that power is all I need

I went in with pretty much the same mindset as you. I was open to anything and drove them all. After sitting in all the different models with all the different options i ordered a base gt and a gt premium both with recaros, 3.55, automatic, no nav. I went with the GT prem, recaros, 3.55, auto.

Are you looking to maybe buy off the lot, or just testing?
If looking to buy, make sure you check out some of the threads of 'known issues' and things to check for prior to buying, like the panel misalignments and stuff.

Thanks, right now I'm just going to test drive. I will probably commit to buying in the next few weeks

What do you think of your Veloster?

I'm in a rental right now and I'm sure it's not the quickest model but man .... so tough to drive in it after been in my GT for a month. It's loud and hard on bumps and just doesn't feel planted. Winding out those gears to barely move is something I don't think I could ever get used to. I'm sure the gas mileage is great compared to my 14.6 average I'm accustomed to but the sacrifice isn't worth it to me.

It's not terrible at least, I have enjoyed it since it was my first "fun" car (since I have the turbo version) and I have learned quite a bit from modding it.

However, it is indeed not that fast, it's about GTI fast. And it's an auto, which I hate now that I know how to drive manual.

Here's a couple pictures of it though for fun:

Yeah, yours is definitely not anywhere like the one I have from Enterprise. I think I could have a bit of fun if I was driving the turbo model. I used to drive a MazdaSpeed 6 which is a turbo 4 and I loved that car.

If you treat your new Mustang anything like you did your Veloster, you should have one helluva car. I'm sure all the added power/torque is going to an amazing feeling for ya. Good luck to ya on the purchase.

So I drove 2 different models today!!

First was this Magnetic Ecoboost premium:

Right off the bat I noticed the different view from inside. The hood is very visible, and it all contributes to making the car feel VERY long, though not difficult to handle at all.

Power was certainly decent, the one we had out was basically on empty though so I was actually inclined not to really open it up which was lame. I did like the sport setting, but didn't like how it held the gear on either models. It won't matter anyways since I will be getting a manual

Interior quality was excellent, I ended up liking the premium features more than I though I would, since both that they had for me were premiums. I plan to try a base GT manual next though, for contrast

The second was a Guard GT Premium. This car made sense, the power was intense, and I let the rear end break loose a couple of times. I am convinced that I want a GT, but also know I may not be able to justify it, especially with how nice the ecoboost premium was. I will know for sure once I try a base GT manual

FWIW I'm going to have the salesman try and get me a yellow GT base, but there aren't many around

I care about infotainment
Guard ::drool:: but the stock 18s don't do it justice at all. It needs the 5 spoke 18s at minimum.
