Can also be achieved by using data logging. In fact, some say tuning via data logging is better than using a dyno as you are putting a real load on the car and are in real driving conditions
This is a bit of an overgeneralization. Tuning should really not be done on an inertia based dyno as it does not load the wheels. This is why Eddy Current Type dynos are used for tuning - they apply load.

That being said, most tuning should be a mix of EC dyno tuning and on street data logging.

I'm certainly not the expert, but have been told this by couple of tuners - granted not on this platform. Whatever load a EC dyno puts on the car, is it as 'accurate/real' as the load put on the car by actually driving in the street?

At any rate, my point was: you don't need to use a dyno to get a custom tune.

Though there is no doubt using a dyno would be more convenient and safer. Probably ideally you use the dyno to get you mostly there and then street log to fine tune.

Procharger techs last post just added fuel to the fire. I was fine sending the email and waiting for a response. Than I got on here and read that and it just pissed me off.

It is a big deal when u spend good money on a kit and it doesn't perform like it should. I have been driving a sputtering pos around for the past few months. The tune I loaded clearly says Procharger. Also I said works well because the first few havent.
Your tune file is no different then this guy below.

Nothing beats "The right custom tune". How is this achieved? Only on a dyno. Every car is different, so it must be that way for the Ultimate tune. I will say that the tune I loaded from ProCharger has performed amazing.

My intune says loading Procharger when installing the tune and it still feels like a slouch at WOT. It feels like what you explained above at middle throttle usage.
Again yours is the same as the quote above you.

So you can see that why this was a bit odd to track down.
Not everyone has/had the issue.

Like CHARGED said it is a big deal, you cant state that it isn't, there isn't just a "few" as you keep saying, seems a little more then that. Its the "few" that want a canned tune is why we purchased the complete package. Otherwise what was the point paying extra?
I can say its a "few" because we know the exact number.
That number is (8) that seem to have this mystery issue.

Considering how many systems are out there (full systems) that number is very very very very low. Heck more then that were sold in the first day of the systems release.

I am definitely not trying to talk trash like i posted in this Original post, you guys make a great product and 99% great costumer service! I do understand like beefcake said as well these are new they will need tweaking so that is all that would need to be said to satisfy us "few" and a simple "we are working to solve the problem", which you have given now. Thank you.

Thanks,

AS stated, since we have not had a single car here have the issue, and all we have had to go on was the few data logs that customers have sent in, its been a very hard thing to diagnose. One of the BETA customers (yellow car) was to return here so that we could take a look at it, though it has never happened)

We recently got a car in that has this issue, and that helped speed the process up. :)

Using the word "tune" is pretty loose. Considering we use cal files that have to overlay the factory tunes. If something is incorrect in the template, to can cause an issue. So all templates have to be exact for every version of ECU coming out. Hence why Diablo has been working to get to the bottom of this issue as well.

We wouldn't notice at WOT? HA Mine is doing what you say at WOT as well as the partial throttle, as it seems like the "few" of us also, how do we have a bigger issue then??
We have not seen this issue at WOT, and it sounds like maybe only 1 or 2 of you have this issue, based on this thread.

So yes, this is different.

Please as I have stated in the other posts.
Email us at [email protected] with the following

1) Serial number
2) Description of the issues
3) If you have a data log, that will DRASTICALLY HELP US. :)

there are still cars rolling onto the lots with pcm codes that no one has seen,
This is what seems to be causing the issue, hence why Diablo is helping to update templates.

I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on a HO kit ..But I would like to see all these tuning problems worked out before I do .. I really want a true plug and play system..
For nearly all systems going out the door, no issues have been reported.
However if you want to eliminate the chance at all until the tune update is resolved, dealers such as BEEFCAKE have a ready to go system for you with custom tuning.

Procharger techs last post just added fuel to the fire. I was fine sending the email and waiting for a response. Than I got on here and read that and it just pissed me off.
Dude, we are all human here, I don't know what I stated that would have pissed anyone off. I just posted the facts.

I have seen your emails, and the replies to them.
I have private messaged you, and apologized for your delay.

Until we fully test this update, and are ready to send it out.
There is nothing more I/we can do.

Your name/email is on the update list, its never moved.

OK, gotta get off here now. I am going down to check out the progress on one of the 2015's in here that has the testing "update" installed in it.

Thanks guys!

Actually my tune file was different than his because they sent me another tune when my car wasn't running right. If you go back and read the emails you will see I was sent another tune. At first it did drive a little better but got worse with time. I loaded the original tune back in the car yesterday and it's driving so much better. It's far from perfect but much better than the tune I was running.

I see nothing wrong with a "Canned tune" I hold a world record on a Canned Tune .. I have tried 100s of custom tunes and not one of them came close to my canned tune ..

The tune I used and still use today was built on the dyno and then track tested as well as drivability on the street .. over 300 dyno pulls and 150 passes down the 1/4 mile before we released the tune to the public , all this was done in less than a months time .. Not one single complaint in 3 years since the tune was released ..

There is no reason not to use a Canned tune if it was done correctly ..And if it is done right you would be wasting money and time getting a custom tune ...We have had a few guys think they could out tune what we have and break my record , well 3 years later I still hold the record ..

Like I said before I will wait a bit and let all this get sorted out before I order my HO kit .. I want a true plug and play system ..I don't want to spend hours on the dyno and 100s of passes on my car to get a good tune that I should have got from the very start ..

The "issue" is a simple one that during middle throttle usage (not idle, not WOT)
There is a flat area in the power production, due to the timing dropping about 6 degrees.
The timing then comes back in, and the car runs just fine and fast! .
This is exactly what is happening with my car

Although my car runs excellent, I do have the flat spot from the timing dropping as well. Aside from that it is excellent.

I just spent the day working on a car that had the mystery issue personally.
And I can say after driving it around for hours the "flat spot" is gone.
Actually drives better then stock. (I personally dislike the way they drive stock)
Just as our other BETA testing cars do, with systems on them.

The other cars that are testing this update also have reported no issues at this time either.

Tomorrow I will strap this car down, and do some simulation load tests, and dyno tests just to confirm power still is as it should be.

Looks like the end is near, and its in the home stretch. :)
Thanks for your patience all. (well at least the few of you this effects) :)

Have a great night.

I am curious about the claims that there are only a few of us with these problems…. None the less, a lot has been said on this thread, and I sense some defensiveness… Fine, I get that!
In the end… ProCharger, Lund, livernois and us Mustang lovers need this back and forth so that Mustang can be the best it can be.

We track every system that leaves here,
And we have every single tune that leaves here, (per serial number)
Each tune gets its own folder, so we can look up the exact file sent out. (and the cars original)

So yes, since I can see all the files that went out.
And I can see all the original back ups.
And I know which original files can have the issue.
Then yes, its easy to see the cars that could be effected. :)

When a person calls in/emails in with an issue, it gets tracked to that serial number.
Which is called a "service log" inside the computer system here.

I can pull the reports on the service logs that connect to that issue.
On top of that every tuesday, there is a meeting with the entire tech staff.
Its an open "forum" style discussion, so everyone can hear about issues or ideas from the week before.

Works pretty slick actually.

Nothing defensive here, we just wanted to make sure people understood that calling 6 times a day, emailing 3 times a day, and posting on the forums doesn't help get the "fix" moving any faster.

We had to systematically find out why only a few cars had the issue.
Once finding what the cause was, had to make sure a fix was in place.
Then test that fix properly, before blindly sending out files.

In the end… ProCharger, Lund, livernois and us Mustang lovers need this back and forth so that Mustang can be the best it can be.

It seems to have come down to a simple load error when our file was placed into the inTUNE on a few cars. (We did not build our file with Diablo or SCT software, so this might have caused the error) We simply use the inTUNE as a simple to use loading device for our customers. With that being stated, Diablo has been on top of their game to get a solution to the issue. :) :headbang:

The file is correct, as is the "cal" file.
However, that cal file isn't transferring all the data to some ECU's via the inTUNE.

Usually this has never been an issue with Ford. (only Dodge)
Since Dodge can have 3-10 variations of the ECU operation system/calibration for one model year. (some small changes, others drastic)

As stated, the root of the issue has been found.
Testing is going well.

And I an now going to the dyno, I swear. :)
Stop distracting me. ;)
