I trust my dealer but only because of a personal connection to the finance manager and, now that I've dealt on the car, the owner.

Ordinarily with a normal dealer though my trust would be exactly zero.

I learned a long time ago...when one uncle boasted about how much he ripped off his brother in law...that you can't trust car dealers as a rule. BUT...there are exceptions that can be made. I trust one person at the last dealership...I bought 2 cars off him. I have no illusions that he is out to make a buck...he's a salesman, it's what they do. He also knows that I know what I want and doesn't pressure me into what he wants to sell.

Do your independent research. Find a dealer with a good service dept that you are going to visit for your scheduled maintenance. A good service dept that will work with you, develop a relationship with you, is worth its weight in gold (my two cars are....troublesome, truck is rock solid). A good service dept. is worth so much more than a few dollars saved at purchase.

As for supplying information on aftermarket parts...I have no idea, you are probably better off on your own and finding a good independent shop to do the work...

I don't trust any dealerships! They are in business to take my money and I'm here to keep it. That goes for sales and service! I avoid them at all cost! However, cars are my weakness, so you will catch cruising the dealership lots on Sunday.

I hate dealing with Ford and their crap dealerships, none that I have been to have I been treated with respect nor my cars, they rev them and drive off or stall three times before they go anywhere, it's a mess!

That's the only thing I miss about dealing with Lexus and Mercedes, they always showed so much respect and acted like if I was the king and they were slaves, it was the best.

Too bad this is what I like lol

No problem with my dealership. Bought three mustangs from them in the past 5 years. My relationship is excellent with all of their depts. The dealership actually stored my vehicle indoors for 4 weeks, until i could take delivery of my 2015 GT. My GT was already purchased. No fee for the storage. People at the dealership have left. This is the norm these days . Still there have been some there since i bought my first Mustang, including the service writers , parts manager some Techs and my sales rep. The dealership has a very long history as well. In fact I was just there today with my GT/CS. Its hard to find a dealership that you can get comfortable with these days. In fact as you are aware, many just do not exist anymore. Its always been buyer beware though......................:ford::cool:

We have been pretty lucky with the last 2 dealers we have worked with. Like any other business, you look for the ones that want to do a good job and you go in as a informed consumer. :)

My dealer has been a mixed bag. I think they ended up taking my order without having any allocations, but I worked that out with the fleet manager. And never got any updates from the salesperson during the order process.

But when the car arrived with a bumper problem and I requested the bumper be swapped with one from a good S550, they agreed to do it with no hesitation whatsoever. They didn't even get reimbursed by Ford for the swap, but did it anyway, and on an X-Plan deal to boot. They were so responsive and eager to please during this part that it helped compensate for the lack of updates during the order process. Overall I ended up with a pretty damn positive feeling after all was said and done.

I do trust the dealership. My dad has been buying from the same dealership over the past 20 years, and the salesman that helped me is actually a friend of the family. We also know a guy in the parts department and my dad was impressed about how they handled the issue with the used truck he bought.

My dealership has a pretty good reputation compared to their competitors. They are a friendly lot, too, amongst each other as well. But like any other dealership, slimy (cold, can't get wait to get rid of you) or not, I would just consider them sneaky if you don't know what you're doing.

Of course it is all about profit. If you score a great deal on your car, of course you'd better believe they will do their damnedest to make up for that "loss" in other ways come paper-signing time.

I admire those of you who know how to thoroughly work the system. I admit I am no educated buyer. :headbonk: Thankfully I am not in a position where I have to struggle to get a payment made each month, but still, no one wants to be taken advantage of, either. I never heard of x-plan before joining any forum; I am no stang enthusiast, this particular car was not a pre-planned purchase. The only thing I know to do is base your purchase on the total price of the car and not walk in with, "I can make xxx monthly car payments" because that is when they can really get you (I experienced that awful 'What just happened?' feeling years ago when the slimy sales rep came back with a monthly payment slightly lower than I threw at him - and I agreed to it.). This time I realized, whatever "savings" was made from the total, they took back later with exorbitant add-ons (sigh, KARR alarm ). It's funny, how much you learn weeks after the papers are signed, but at least you know what to avoid next time.

However, despite the heavy profit they made from me, they treat me like royalty (as they should, right?). The service department was very responsive about the squealing brake debacle / TSB, even though I was the first to bring it to their attention (wasn't rudely put off or spoken to condescendingly like so many others). My sales rep had done a huge favor for me :hail: that could have possibly gotten him in trouble, and has spent much time patiently answering questions I had about the car, even when I would find out later it was his day off - and he is pretty knowledgeable about the stang. We have even started a friendship, and I learn more about what he does. (I personally couldn't stand selling cars as a career.)

So now I am a little smarter...and I have a connection. ;)

I trusted my dealer because I bought cars from them over the last 20 years.
They handled many different brands, in fact I just bought the car from them over the summer my daughter bought a car from them about a year ago last December. I also purchased a car from them for my business partner about a year ago as well.
I gave them $1000 deposit to initiate the order on the mustang, I also used X plan pricing when the car came in. I also did not pay the market adjustment they charge everybody else.
They told me 6 to 10 weeks when I ordered the car, it was eight weeks almost to the day from the time of order to the car coming in.
