i'm actually surprised so many people bought a $35-40k+ car and don't want to spend the extra $35 for quality bulbs that you should only have to buy once for the life of the car. DD has a 3 year warranty. These Chinese knockoffs could go out tomorrow, melt your wiring, etc. Not saying they will, but who knows how they are built. Nothing you can do if something happens with knockoffs, the company isn't even in the US.

Same as cell phone chargers. Sure you may get luck and get a $10 Chinese cable that works fine for years or one that causes your phone to catch on fire (as a few have).

I already bought mine from DD and had to go through the 3 month waiting process, where they dremeled off some of the white plastic and sent those as replacements. Then the replacements still didn't fit right and I ended up just dremeling them myself to make them fit correctly.

I thought DD engineered their own products but from what I am seeing, they are just a reseller with a large markup that slaps a 3 year warranty onto lights that are most likely going to last that long anyways.

Everything is made in China these days. In fact their packaging says assembled in China but engineered and tested in the USA. There is a youtube video of them testing each bulb, they aren't shipping crap out of a big crate/lot like Ebay sellers. Not everything made in China is created equally though- knockoffs generally have to standards to meet for quality and no oversight of the product.

Again for example, iPhone charging bricks and cables are made in China (and the devices themselves), but the Chinese knockoffs are nowhere near the quality and have even started fires. Apple replaced the knockoffs for free for their customers a year or 2 ago. For a $10 difference why skimp?

They also stand by their product and if it fails in 3 months they will replace it free (up to 3 years). Not the ebays. That's worth the extra little bit alone. I've said it before if it was $99 vs $20, ok I get it. But $30 difference for something that is attached to your $35-40k car? I wouldn't take the risk personally. 2 cars ago I had a cheap aftermarket headlight bulb (those blue ones) melt the wiring to the headlight socket on my 1999 GM car. Cost a lot more than the better quality name brand bulb at the end of the day.

That extra little bit is basically doubling the price...

I could think of (not saying, just thinking) a business model of buying 20$ bulbs from China in bulk and selling them for 60$ with 3 years warranty. If only half of them fail, I make profit. Again, not saying anything...

I think the point is not about buying quality part for extra $, but buying the same cheap stuff repackaged at marked up price...

Like I said, it's everyones' cars so do whatever ya'll want at the end of the day. No one knows, but I go safe than sorry with DD for a few extra bucks on their bulbs.

Again, I doubt an ebay seller is checking each bulb that comes in like DD does and test fits it. These Ebay sellers get pallets of items and drop them in a box without a second look or care. The 7443 also bulbs need a dremel taken to them still you get on ebay, and if you go to far since the socket has clips to hold the bulb then you're SOL and have to buy a new set.

Im not saying theyre not from the same manufacturer in China, who knows at the end of the day really. I do know DD has been around for years and is reputable vs some unknown bulb from AplusLEDseller123 on Ebay and seem to take pride in their product and back it up.

Agree. The DD guys shop is 2 miles from where I work. I went and met with them and picked up my switchbacks in person. These guys are doing it correct, and should be here to back their product up in the future. You have no clue when it comes to the eBay stuff.

I would of taken my chances with the chinese bulbs. I messed up and put DD switch backs on my black 5.0, NOT doing the same for my red 5.0.
They do not match the running light temperatures and look JUST like the "ebay knockoffs."
Bases and item number looks and matches DDs. Feels like we are just getting reboxed chinese bulbs at a tailor made price. Their "rebased bulbs" were nothing more than their old ones dremeled down a bit to fit the ford socket. Here I was thinking I was going to be getting a whole new bulb w a NEW base. I picked up their over priced interior leds though, i like how they look. I am sure there is a chinese knockoff somewhere being sold for 2 bucks a pound.

And I forgot to even mention the DD are not generic chinese like the Ebay ones. Look at the other ebay thread in this section at the video. The turn signal flashed amber to white amber to white back and forth. The ebay ad OP links to even says they flash between colors.

DD flash amber solely as turn signals should. The switching colors is the sign of the poor design to the generic Chinese ones. So I will take back that we do not know if they are from the same bin as the Chinese knockoffs because they aren't.

If the flashing colors is ok with you then hey. But I think you may get looks/attention from cops with multi color flashing lights on your car too.

I could buy 2 sets from that ebay seller and still save money. Whats the chances of 2 sets going bad in that 3 year span? Heck whats the chance of 1 set going bad if they are the same exact bulbs DD sells with a 3 year warranty? What risk? The risk of having to open the wheel well again and spend 5 minutes swapping out a bulb?

A few extra bucks? The price is more than doubled... $26 vs $60. The part that really bothers me is that DD claims they engineer these bulbs themselves, which I am starting to feel like thats a lie.
