Ford has begun implementing a system where its cars read speed limit signs (or get street speed limit data from GPS) and automatically govern your car's top speed so you can't go over the speed limit. No more speeding tickets ever! It's a shame they didn't implement this in time for the 2015 Mustang...

No.This is my opinion and mine alone, but this is just another stupid gimmick to prevent stupid people from suffering or accepting the repercussions of their actions should they get caught. If it's in the 2016 Mustang, even if you have the ability to turn it off, I'll be looking for a used 2015 later on. All these new gadgets just to prevent stupidity and provide a scapegoat for those who can't own up to their mistakes and sheer laziness and incompetence.

Just another step towards driverless cars..God I'm gonna hate the future in a couple years.:frusty:

Self-Driving cars will be here by Summer 2015 according to Tesla: http://www.geekwire.com/2015/elon-m...te-will-enable-self-driving-cars-this-summer/

There's a few articles on this, but I'll believe it when I see it

Oh yes. What other freedoms do I have to give up just so the idiots who can't drive or can't be bothered to be competent on the road can survive?

PIXAR predicted the damn future, I wish it wasn't so close!

I miss Darwinism, not that I was ever around for it. Just let the stupid people screw up and make'em walk or ride a bike or something; then maybe they'll learn how to not be dumb!

I can see this being implemented in two ways:
1) Teenage restricted driving modes.
2) Only when cruise control is on.

I would never want that in my car. Ive only gotten 1 speeding ticket in my 6 years of driving because i try to keep it less then 15 over and i watch for cops.
Theres no point in buying a fast car if you cant go fast every once in awhile.

Sarcasm indeed.

The only time I could find this useful is when you're driving with cruise control on in a rural area that sets up speed traps as a revenue stream and inexplicably drops the speed limit by 20 mph the moment you enter their jurisdiction. Other than that... yeah, the people going 55 on the highway and having their gas cut out when they try to accelerate are REALLY gonna help matters, I'm sure.
