I flushed the stock tranny fluid and used RP fluid. I used the better part of 4qt. I have seen where others suggested it took only 3qt. Has anyone else with a PP car changed the stock fluid? How much did you use?

Side note- I also added an MGW shifter. The shifter is phenomenal, but I am still getting some synchro grinding when the car is cold (60 degrees ambient). Beginning to think there was an issue with my synchros from the factory....oh well

Thanks.

My EB took three qts to get it to the bottom of the fill hole, the manual says 2.7 qts.

Was the car level? Four qts is a lot more than spec'd.

The Royal Purple made a very noticeable improvement in the shifting in my car. Much smoother and less notchiness when cold (<30F).

Hmmm. It was on a four post lift so it should have been pretty level. I wouldn't think you could overfill because of where the fill hole is.

Did mine on my four post too. Can't imagine it will make any difference since the gears run in the oil anyway. Not like the engine that if it's over filled the crank can wip the oil into a foam and you lose oil pressure.

Yeah, I guess I'm just concerned that if it heats up and expands it won't have anywhere to go except through one of the seals.

So when you changed yours the oil was coming back out the fill hole at around 2.7? I can't figure out how mine held an entire additonal quart!

Can someone please tell me where to check the transmission fluid on a manual EcoBoost? I have searched under the hood and can't find it and all the owner's manual says is it's on the passenger side of the transmission.

The mt82 has a pressure release nozzle up top. If the fluid expands it pees out the nozzle and release pressure. 4 qrts I'd weird tho. I could see 3 as the set capacity is 2.7 qrts.

The fill hole is on the side of the transmission. No real need to check the fluid, either change it or leave it alone.

You have to get under the car and remove the fill plug. The oil should be right at the bottom if the hole. If it dribbles out you are good to go. If it doesn't and you put your finger in the hole, point it down and it touches oil you are good to go. If not you may want to think about adding some.

Thanks, that's what I thought since it isn't possible to check it unless you're under the car.

I have never seen a manual transmission that does not have a vent to prevent pressure build up or create a vacuum. The oil it self will never expand enough to piss out, the vent is just for air pressure changes above the oil.

When I did mine I used a pump that screws onto the oil bottle. It leaves a little at the bottom of the bottle. When I combined the 3 qt bottles together I had about 1/2" of oil left over, maybe an ounce.

When I pumped all I could from the three qts it was just below the fill hole, it didn't dribble out. About the same point that the factory fill was at.

Thanks for the advice/info guys. I guys I'll just throw it back on the lift and remove the fill plug to see where it's at.
