I was wanting to replace the speakers in my ecoboost premium, including the woofer. I have read on forums where people have had the issue with aftermarket installs, and that is not what i want to do. I just want to put premium speakers in place of my current ones. I do not want to put in more hardware, such as amps or a sub box, just a speaker swap. I am not looking for insanely loud, just a little more bass, and a little better clarity in my audio system. Would this be worth the upgrade and if so, what speakers would you recommend for bass and clarity?

Do Bowers and Wilkins make car audio speakers? I have some B&W's for my theater system as well as my outdoor speakers, and oh my heavens are they nice...

Man I wish....though if they did, I bet they would be crazy expensive!

There's a few 3-way component sets out there for direct replacements of the premium's 3-way set-up. Precision Power, JL Audio, and Focal all have 3-way set-ups. There's probably a few more, maybe JBL and MB Quartz have sets, don't know for sure.

I just got the Precision Power 3-ways in the mail today, so when I get them installed, I'll throw up a review of them.

First off, Chive on!

Better speakers will sound better. However, you are at the mercy of the factory head unit and amp EQ calibrations that are specific to the crappy factory speakers. To get the best out of your upgraded speakers, you will need some kind of DSP to aggregate the factory signal into a more full range signal.

This being said, I replaced the stock speakers in my 06 GT and did nothing else, and was happy with the improvement.

Awesome man I would really appreciate it! and with those swaps, the enclosure square footage in the factory sub will match up to the aftermarket so it won't bug out too?

That's an upgrade I've done in about every one of my cars and it makes a difference. Will see how the "crappy" base stereo sounds when I get my EB.

I'm looking to do this in my V6 as well. Possibly adding a sub.. I'm not an audio guy but will that improve the stock system greatly? Or do I need more equipment? And how would it tie into the stock unit?

I just replaced speakers in previous units. Will see when this one arrives. That is the beauty of a stock/base unit, it's not as hard to upgrade. ;)

Be careful if you are buying high end speakers but not upgrading the amps. A high-end speaker requires more power to push. So it is possible that you put nice speakers into your car and actually lose bass response and volume.

This is not necessarily true. "Sensitivity" is what determines how easy or hard it is to drive a particular speaker. This rating is in decibels at 1 watt/1 meter. The higher the number, the easier it is for that speaker to be driven. It will be louder with less wattage needed to drive it.

I've not had issues by matching the power and impedence with upgrading speakers. Minimum and maximum power needs should be looked at, yes.

My pony, finally
I have the 9 speakers set up and my biggest complaint is the lack of bass, specially in the rear deck speakers, I'll just change these ones. Will the bass improve just with swaping the speakers for good ones??? And, what is the wattage of the stock amp?

I am looking to do exactly the same. I have not found any specifics on the amp other than it is an 8+1 channel amp. Tried to get a speaker recommendation from Crutchfield, but they said they did not have any info on the 2015 Mustangs yet.
The back deck speakers have no volume or bass. I was hoping by putting in speakers with a higher db rating, that would do the trick. I want a little more volume and a better defined bass response. I am not looking to shake the windows.

I see some of you want to improve the bass in the stock system. I wanted to do the same in mine and ended up installing a relatively small powered subwoofer. It takes up hardly any trunk space and is actually really easy to remove if I need to since all of the wiring connects to a harness and then into the system. I have a pretty extensive write-up on my build page if anyone is interested going this route. It added the bass I wanted without having to do anything too extensive and sounds great.
