Go with jlt it's proven. Aluminum or any metal frame that matter us a good conductor and I see it getting hot being under the hood. Steeda just released their intake which is worth a look. They also have a group buy going on for intake/tune for a steal.

I picked up 38 whp with my jlt and dyno tune. Can hear it whistle like crazy when I get on it. Sounds good fit was great and I like the quality. Waiting on exhaust now "/

Calling out OKC #1 spot after axle back install.
I will be going with Airaid or Steeda, both have a strong rep for being well built units.
jlt is not even on the radar, the garbage they put out for their catchcans makes me question the quality of their CAI's.

missing the point, don't want to pay extra $400 for a tuner I'll use once.
It won't be only once unless you never do anything to your car again.

Change ties/wheel size? Need to adjust the tune for the speedo. Add any parts affecting the intake/engine/exhaust systems? Need to adjust the tune.

You can also bump the tune down octane levels of gas if gas gets expensive again back to 87/89. I always also loaded my stock tune if I brought the car in for warranty service just in case.

You can unpair and sell the tunes later on too. I sold my X3 once I sold my 2009 and got my 2015 and still got $225 on Ebay for it.

Not to pick on you but I'm not sure why so many people seem to think flashing the stock tune back prior to bringing the car into a dealer makes a tune untraceable. The ecu has a counter that can not be reset, even by a dealer. Every time you flash a tune(aftermarket or stock) the counter increases by 1. I believe the count is set to 0 by default so if the counter reads anything aside from 0, and it's not documented that a dealer flashed the ecu for repair or recall work, then it's clear you tampered with the ecu. Just throwing that out there...

I went with JLT CAI and tune. It really woke up the car and and installation of the tune and the kit was pretty straight forward. Read the reviews, watch all of the installation videos and call if you think you should. SCT and JLT customer service will ensure you succeed.
The car is now a beast.

I really just want something that sounds great......lol. I have no interest in tuning as I've done it quite a bit in the past and got bored of it.

Im wondering about the open intakes like jlt? Wouldnt you get heat soak or at least some hot air in if your just sitting there in traffic or at the strip? I would think that would kill the performance on a turbo car when your getting ready to launch? I would think an enclosed CAI or one that has the opening and filter down by the fender away from the engine. When there testing them they have the hood open and huge fan blowing air.. i get once the car is driving it would be similar conditions.. but not when its sitting there especially on a hot day getting ready to take off or launched at the strip! Just my thoughts.

Search on my posts.

I proved that theory wrong.

Car was on the dyno all day
Head temp 210? Over 200 I remember for sure
Stop and go traffic for 45 mins on the way home, right off the dyno

Iat's were tighter than with the stock closed air box ( ambient vs iat's as recorded by the car)

And although they rose slightly faster at a dead stop with the jlt over the stock box, they dropped twice as fast when the car got moving again.

Was your car a Turbo engine?

This thread is in the 5.0 section.

And airflow through a air box doesn't really care what it's feeding

Steeda all the way! Has a removable restrictor can be used with or without a tune. Better looking imho. There's a post here somewhere "Thoughts on Steeda CAI". Steeda just posted their dyno #s...very stout.
