Don't know much about the sound of either since I haven't installed my jlt yet, but looking at the design I would guess you would get some extra engine noise with the jlt for a few reasons. 1 larger diameter piping allowing for more air. 2 an open filter. Not to mention the OEM like quality. The airaid uses the same size as stock piping and is a closed system which will silence the intake just the how the stock box which is why you can't hear that either. The added size of the jlt piping allows for more air and more air means more power. Install is pretty straight forward and shouldn't be any longer than 30min on either of them. The 11-14 mustang guys went with jlt over airraid because of the build quality. Spend some time looking around for dyno charts and you'll see the guys who are making the big power are using jlt intake.

The other difference is that the JLT requires a tune and the Airaid does not. It isn't a positive or negative for either one it just depends on your plans.

No tune. Usually means no more power. Looks only. The amount of air the engine is receiving is slightly higher or the same as the stock intake. One that requires a tune is allowing so much more air that the computer can not compensate for it, outside of the factory parameters

i'd get a jlt if i either had a tuner or knew someone that could do it. can't see spending $700+ for an intake and airaid's giant logo and being pretty much same thing as stock except you can see the filter is a turn off.

Don't mistake not requiring a tune for not able to tune.... and where did you come up with $700+ for the Airaid unless you're getting a tuner with it?
