What gear do you end the 1/4 in? Will the 3.73s add a shift before you reach the end of the strip?

My car isn’t a drag car but I’ve been wondering how 3.73/10R80 would feel on the street. Not many people have posted about this combo. I have base 3.15s right now, I spent some time in my brother’s 3.55/10R80 and didn’t feel much of a change in acceleration. I’m sure your strip times are a better meter than I am though

6th gear, it might shift into 7th with the 3.73’s.…we’ll find out next spring. I think the car can go 10.3X with 3.73’s. The ET improved when I went from 3.31’s to 3.55’s. It’s all about the 60’ being NA.

Are you using an iron manual diff housing or aluminum automatic with the new r&p installed?
I may be misunderstanding your question. I'm using factory 10r80 with Stage 2 Suncoast internals. CircleD Converter, QA1 Carbon Fiber Driveshaft, and I had my factory torsen rebuilt into a 3.73 ring and pinion.

Nah you’re spot on there. The manual PPs, Machs, and 350s come with 3.73 gears in an iron housing. The auto torsens are 3.55s in an aluminum diff. The 2 routes to pair 3.73s with a 10R80 are to use either the iron manual 3.73 setup or to swap a new 3.73 gear into the aluminum auto torsen.

I’m leaning towards your approach, just trying to figure out the most cost effective way to do it. In a perfect world I find someone with a boosted car that wants to trade for my 3.15 and drop the gears in

I wanted to just do a diff swap. All I could find were units on EBAY. I nerd out on certain things and my car is one of them. When doing research looking for a good unit, I uncovered a lot of scamming activity. Rather than throwing money away I decided to spend more and just give myself peace of mind. Rebuilding it was more, but less sketchy!
