How long my 10R80 lasted drag racing.

Well, after approximately 150 1/4 mile passes, the 10R80 has decided it’s done. Almost all the passes were with the 3:55 rear gear and car weighing about 3300 lbs. The last 30 passes were with a Circle D converter. This car has spent its entire life shifting at 7500+ RPM. Car made 500 HP last time on the dyno. The car will shift at low rpm but any high rpm attempts, it says NOPE. Car was built at the beginning of 2022 so it doesn’t have the updated CDF drum or the hard anodized shell. I believe cars built after Aug 15/16 22’ received the updated parts. It’ll get rebuilt and we’ll be ready for the 2027 season. Car has 900 miles on it…..it’s not street driven.

Thanks! I’m going to a 3.73 rear gear at the same time as the rebuild, I expect to improve the ET. The actually “shifting” should happen quicker and be more consistent for sure. Unfortunately, I won’t know until March/April when the new season starts up.

Woodburn! I haven't raced at Woodburn in a long time. It reminds me of my home track growing up, Renegade Raceway in Yakima, WA.
I live in Vancouver, WA and I'd love to see your car race. Subbing to see this thing in action in 2027! I need an excuse to drag race my GT350R anyway...
But you buried the lead... what's the car running in it's current form? Gotta be low 10s?

Yes, you definitely need to make it down next season. It went 10.44 at 131mph…that’s with a 100+lb cage in it. I get my barrel of E85 from Forged Fuels, he’s based in St.Helens area but he also delivers. He has a Facebook and Instagram page.

After seeing all the 10R80 builders and the so called “stage 1”, “stage 2” , 800hp package, 1200hp package etc…..it’s a bit muddy for me. Whatever “package” I decide on, at a minimum it’ll be double the HP I’m currently at. If this was a street car I’d be less concerned, but asking it to live making every shift at 7500+ rpm is vastly different. With the cost of this, I don’t see boost anytime soon…..having a daughter at a private college is taking my play money
